Just a small update on what’s been going on at CG Auto Repair. Had BMW 535D in for an EGR and swirl flap delete. These parts on the car can be problematic and when they go wrong can be expensive to fix. These parts on delete kit which we can supply and fit are a very cost effective fix

Been a busy few days at CG Auto Repair. 2010 Mini came to us with no compression in cylinder 1. The owner was told the engine would need to be replaced as was unfixable by a few garages. Knowing Mini the way we do we suggested that is most probably a burnt out valve and perfectly fixable which was very much the case here. Head removed and skimmed. New exhaust valve fitted, all valves removed, inspected and lapped back in to make sure there is good compression across all cylinders. New valve stem seals also as these engines are very prone to them failing. Needless to say new head gasket set and head bolts, also new timing chain fitted. The owner was very pleased to have the car back and running like it should

Couple of jobs done lately. Head gasket done on a Vauxhall Corsa. Also had a 2016 VW polo in that had a warning on the dash to say the 12 volt system was no longer charging. Went to the customers house and quickly diagnosed the Air con pump pulley had come away so the Auxiliary belt was no longer doing it job. In this case we supplied and fitted a good quality secondhand part with a lengthy warranty from a certified breakers to get are costumer back on the road.

It was Friday the 13th but everything went well today. Been busy lately and been forgetting to take photos and update are page. Had a Vauxhall Vectra in today for a wheel bearing replacement. As you can see the bearing has been running hot so definitely needed changing. Another happy customer back on the road

Had a 2013 Citroen Picasso in today for a much needed Cam Belt and water pump replacement. As you can see by the picture this cam belt didn’t have much life left in it. Luckily we got there in time and replaced with a good quality Gates timing belt and water pump, so this happy costumer can keep on motoring. Don’t forget to get your cam belts and timing chains done

Busy doing MOT repairs for a customers Vauxhall Astra. Failed on two rear trailing arm bushes and front lower arm bushes. So new front lower arms fitted, also pressed out the old rear trailing arm bushes and pressed in a new set to get this car back on the road and pass its MOT.

Had this 2014 Vauxhall Astra in as a non starter due to a faulty starter motor, also a very bad timing chain rattle. Under inspection we found that one of the timing chain guides and the dowel that holds the guid in place had completely broken away and ended up in the oil sump pan. We carried out a cylinder leak down test to make sure there was no internal damage to the engine then got on with fitting a new timing chain kit and starter motor. Also removing the oil pan sump to clear out any debris left in the sump. Another happy customer back on the road.
