Our shop assistant, Luke, recently picked up a used Royal Enfield Classic 350 - here's what we has to say about it:
"Having ridden larger bikes, I wasn’t quite sure how I would get on with a 20bhp 350cc single. So, before making the decision, I took a Classic 350 for a test ride. Within a few miles, my doubts had all but disappeared.
I have always loved the sound of an air cooled engine, having previously owned a 1973 VW Beetle. When I fire up the reliably simple J Series single-cylinder engine, I savour that unmistakable mechanical rhythm, and of course, the characterful thump, thump, thump from the exhaust.
I had originally looked at the Classic 500s, but found this 350 for sale at just a year old and with only 800 miles on the clock. The bike was in pristine condition and had already had 2 services. I could tell it had been well looked after. I instantly fell for the gold pin striping on the deep Madras Red paintwork, coupled with the shiny chrome and polished stainless steel gleaming under the showroom lights. It was gently calling, “buy me Luke”.
I really have no interest in going fast these days, my philosophy is that any trip is as much about the journey as the destination, even commuting to work.
However, that said; around the smaller roads this bike is perfect. That thump of the exhaust as we glide around the quiet sweeping back roads is absolutely addictive."
