Hi, I’m Davy, the owner and founder of MGS – Mawdsley’s Gardening Services Ltd.

Running MGS isn’t just my job—it’s something I’ve worked incredibly hard to build from the ground up.

Before starting the business, I spent six years working for Northumberland Healthcare NHS Trust, including four years as an Orthopaedic Surgeon’s Assistant. The NHS taught me invaluable skills that I still carry into every project today: professionalism, attention to detail, organisation, teamwork, and taking real pride in doing a job properly.

Although I enjoyed my healthcare career, I always had a passion for working outdoors. Creating beautiful gardens, transforming tired spaces, and seeing the difference a well-designed landscape can make has always been something I’ve loved. Eventually, I made the decision to leave the security of the NHS and take a leap of faith by building MGS full-time.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one I’ve never looked back on.

Today, MGS has grown into a trusted landscaping company serving North Tyneside and the surrounding areas. While we still offer a wide range of gardening and landscaping services, we’re becoming known for something we’re particularly passionate about—premium decorative gravel installations.

Our aim isn’t to be the cheapest company. We aim to be one of the best.

Every project is approached with the same care and attention to detail, whether it’s a complete garden transformation or a simple improvement. We believe in honest advice, clear communication, quality materials, and workmanship we’re proud to put our name to.

For me, success isn’t measured simply by the number of gardens we complete. It’s about building a business with an outstanding reputation, creating outdoor spaces our customers genuinely love, and leaving every property looking better than when we arrived.

Looking ahead, my ambition is to continue growing MGS into one of the North East’s leading landscaping companies, while also giving back by creating opportunities for young people through apprenticeships and work experience—helping others build rewarding careers in the industry.
