BMW M2 Competition in with us this week for custom tuning with . 🔥📈

Arriving with 411bhp and left making 531bhp once we’d finished with it. These really wake up when they’re calibrated properly and the way they carry power afterwards is a completely different animal compared to stock.

The owner always runs 99RON, but with some of the inconsistencies we’ve seen with fuel quality lately, we still take that into account when calibrating them properly for real world use rather than just chasing a number for one perfect dyno run so we left some head room in it. 🤌

We also tapered the torque delivery in sensibly to suit the standard crank hub setup rather than just hitting it with everything all at once. 👌

Sport mode now keeps the exhaust valves fully open and we’ve added a short enhanced overrun setup to suit the car properly without making it sound ridiculous every time you lift off.

Lovely thing as well in Long Beach Blue with the matching blue stitching through the seats. BMW got the spec of these spot on from factory. 😎

Over a month without a social media post… we’ve been absolutely flat out sorry. 😂

Workshop has been non-stop lately. Servicing, fitting work, diagnostics, tuning jobs and online orders flying out daily. It genuinely never slows down here.

Tuning side has been busy with all sorts in recently as well. Fiestas, RS3s, Hyundais, Golfs, Cupras and plenty more mixed in between. We’ve always wanted Rival to be a place people can bring proper builds to regardless of platform, whether that’s a daily, track car or som**hing a bit more serious.

Website side has been growing massively as well. Loads of new brands getting added, more stock arriving constantly and a lot of work going into making the whole experience better from browsing parts right through to booking work in properly. We’ve also got the B2B trade portal getting close to launch now which should make life much easier for trade customers and workshops using us regularly.

We’ve also been trialling a new AI-supported customer system to help manage the sheer amount of messages and support requests coming in daily. It’s there to speed things up, reduce repetitive back-and-forth and help us keep response times under control whilst things are this busy. Still work in progress, but so far it’s been a massive help.

Nürburgring trip is also coming up fast now. Original plan was the usual Fiesta convoy but a few of the lads decided bigger cars were needed, so an M4 ended up joining the fleet as well.

Another M140i in from the other week, in for a proper mix of upgrades and maintenance. 🔧

We started with an oil and filter service with iDrive updated to suit. Basic work, but it sets the standard for everything that follows. These respond well when they’re looked after properly, so we always make sure the foundations are right before moving on.

On the hardware side, we supplied and fitted a Bosch TU pump to complement the intake and downpipe setup. As you start increasing load and especially torque on these, the standard pump becomes a limitation. You’ll typically see rail pressure start to dip in the lower rev range where torque demand ramps in hard. The TU pump gives the volume and stability needed to hold that pressure properly, which is key when you’re pushing into the 700Nm range.

We also fitted MMX lowering springs to bring the car down and improve how it sits and drives, along with an Ultra Racing body brace to stiffen things up. Subtle changes but they make a difference. The car feels tighter, more planted, and more predictable when you’re pushing on.

With everything installed and checked over, we moved onto calibration using Stage 2+ software, paired with xHP gearbox tuning. The gearbox side is a big part of these. Managing torque properly, shift strategy and how the power is delivered all plays a role in how the car actually drives day to day.

Final result came in at 483bhp and just over 700Nm. 📈🔥

More importantly, it delivers it cleanly and consistently with stable fuel pressure right through the pull and everything working together as it should.

The B58 engine continues to be a solid platform when it’s set up properly. 😎👌

BMW iDrive Service Updates Now Available ✅

We’re now offering BMW iDrive service history updates at Rival, keeping your digital service record up to date and in line with manufacturer standards. ⚙️🔧

This has been a big request and with more BMWs coming through the doors, it was the natural next step for us.

Servicing, upgraded parts and custom tuning all handled properly under one roof, now backed up with correct iDrive history.

Our BMW key reader is on its way and we’re looking forward to seeing even more BMWs in.

ANOTHER 400BHP+ FIESTA ST 🔥🚀

Been a bit quiet on socials lately, but we’ve had some proper jobs in behind the scenes.

Dan’s Fiesta ST MK7 is a good example. Mega spec, no expense spared.

On paper it ticks every box, but it definitely didn’t come easy. This one gave us a fight.

We ended up having to retime the engine, sort the cams properly and fit a new Piper cam with the correct HPFP fuel lobe so fuel pressure stayed where it should. There was a fair bit of going backwards before we could move forward, taking things back off, redoing bits properly, then building it back up again to get it where it needed to be. Just teething issues really, but the kind that take time to properly work through on a spec like this. 😎

Not som**hing you rush, and not som**hing you guess your way through.

Once it was finally right, we got it on the dyno and dialled in properly with Devine Autotech - there's a reason we have a proper in-house dyno and it's for fast cars like this. 💪

End result was 405bhp without m**h. ✅

And the sound of it is unreal. Side exit and screamer pipe, it doesn’t sound like your typical Fiesta at all.

We’re crazy busy right now and we are grateful for those travelling to us and the amount of bookings we are receiving for all types of work. 🔧

It’s good to know we’re doing som**hing right and that people appreciate us just as we appreciate you guys. 🙌

PARKING & DRIVING UPDATE ⚠⚠❗❗

We didn’t want to do this, but we need to have a quick word about parking.

We’re flat out at the minute. Most of our bays are full every single day. That’s a good problem to have, but it’s causing issues when people start parking wherever they fancy.

Please do not park across the units opposite us.
They need their bays clear at all times.

If our bays are full, park around the corner.
Do not block the road.
Do not dump it outside other businesses.
Even if you’re “just popping in for two minutes”.

We all share this estate. Let’s not make life difficult for other companies trying to run their businesses.

Also while we’re on it…

When you arrive or leave, keep it sensible. No flying in. No bouncing off the limiter. No silly stuff. We love cars, we build quick cars, we tune quick cars… but there’s a time and a place.

Respect the space.
Respect the neighbours.
Respect the brand.

We appreciate everyone who already does this properly.

VOLKSWAGEN MK8 GOLF GTI 🤌

Lewis doesn’t mess about.

He wanted it done yesterday. Parts ordered, boxes landing, straight on it to get it booked in.

From a RacingLine intercooler to Milltek exhaust parts and everything in between, this wasn’t a half-hearted build. Lewis had done his homework. He’d seen what RacingLine were achieving online and knew exactly the route he wanted to take.

With the right hardware in place, his Volkswagen Golf GTI MK8 was properly Stage 2 ready.

This was actually the first MK8 GTI we’ve had on the dyno. What a lovely colour! Straight away you can tell they’re a different animal. So many advanced electronics, so much control built into the platform. It wasn’t as straightforward as we first expected, but that’s what we’re here for. We got stuck in, worked through it properly, tuned and datalogged it the way it should be done.

From time to time people ask how accurate our dyno really is.

RacingLine quoted 384BHP and 559Nm on their development setup. 📈

On our in-house dyno it made 383BHP and 560Nm. 🔥

That is as close as it gets. 🫡

No inflated numbers. No ego runs. Just honest, repeatable results you can rely on.

We finished with textbook datalogs to suit this exact setup. Boost control clean. Fueling spot on. Timing where it should be. A car that drives as good as it reads on paper.

DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES 🏁

Welcome the latest addition to Rival. A Ford Fiesta ST200 MK7. Our new development car. ✅

At the start of the year we were approached by a turbo manufacturer about getting involved in developing a new turbo for the MK7 platform. We can’t go into detail due to NDA agreements, but after the meeting and seeing what’s planned, it made sense to get involved. Proper joint development with other businesses always pushes things further.

That conversation forced a rethink. 🤔

We’ve already got a fast track car and it does exactly what it was built to do. It’s aggressive, proven and properly quick. But it’s gone a bit too far for the road. Poly windows, plated diff, fully stripped, vibrations everywhere. It’s not road legal and it definitely isn’t som**hing you daily.

And that’s exactly why we’re doing this differently.

What’s better than one track car? Two, obviously. 😂

This time the goal is som**hing that sits in the middle. Road legal. Properly sorted for track. Built with purpose and built to be fast.

When we were offered a low mileage ST200 from our friends at it just made sense. Completely standard. Clean example. Top spec MK7. The perfect base to start fresh.

This isn’t about building a show car and it’s not about chasing a headline number for social media. It’s about building a club level daily track car using parts we actually supply and trust every week. If it works on this car under real use, it earns its place.

It’ll be driven to track days and driven home. Logged properly. Tested properly. Pushed properly. And just because it’ll be road legal doesn’t mean we won’t be going to town on it.

In a few months, all going to plan, we’ll be heading to Germany. 🇩🇪

Drive there. Nürburgring laps. Drive it back.

Everything documented. The decisions, the wins, the setbacks. 🙌

This one’s going to be a lot of fun! 🤙
