Week before last saw this little project for us.
We had a visit back earlier in the year from the owner of this lovely T6, he had a vision and a plan to make some improvements to his van, having owned it from new it was time to take it a step further.
It was already fitted with a coilover suspension set up but this was old and tired but also wouldn’t allow the extra drop in height that the customer wanted, perfect timing as when we removed the old kit one of the springs was actually broken.
We replaced the old set up with the SoLow Suspension LOW coilover kit.
We also removed both front and rear suspension arms and poly bushed the arms with Powerflex bushes.
The van already had a big brake upgrade on the front but a bigger rear set up was what was needed to balance out the look and improve the braking further, We went for the 356mm kit which comes with new black coated discs, immaculately painted brake calipers and carriers, brackets to extend the fitment of the larger discs and new Brembo brake pads from the guys over at SF-Tuning LTD who were able to track down the paint code of the current front brakes and paint the new rear calipers to match 👌
Next up was the scabby old stock exhaust system, that was removed in favour of a Miltek stainless system from the DPF back. This was the first one of these we’ve installed but definitely won’t be the last as we are very happy with the quality and price point.
Seeking some extra power with an ECU remap planned down the line an uprated Wagner charge cooler was installed, very impressed with the quality of the kit. Visually the cooler is around 70% bigger so no doubt will help massively in reducing engine intake temperatures to compliment the remap and exhaust system.
Once off the ramp we took some measurements, then adjusted the suspension a few times until we were happy with the height before carrying out 4 wheel alignment.
