Mini Cooper S originally booked in for an oil leak. The customer reported the past few days the engine has had quite a bad rattle from the engine. Upon removing the valve cover we have found the reason for the noise. The top chain guide had broken and completely came adrift from its original mounting point. The customer is lucky no further damage was caused.

A good start to the week. 2 vehicles that were booked in both had failed timing belts. One was very lucky and was still running with the timing being out by a few teeth and was originally booked in for an engine management light on. The other is going to need alot more than just the replacement timing belt kit.

Make sure you have your vehicles timing belts and services up to date or it could cost you more in the long run!

A few timing belt jobs carried out today.

Ford Ranger for a wetbelt replacement.
In the pictures you can see the pitting in the timing belt and the small pieces of rubber have been collected in the oil strainer. It is very important these belts are replaced and the strainers are cleaned before they block up and starve the engine of oil.
