🚗 BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT 🔧

Spongy brake pedal? That’s a brake system issue you definitely don’t want to ignore.

This vehicle came in with a soft/spongy brake pedal, so we carried out a diagnosis and found the brake master cylinder needed replacing.

🔧 Job carried out:
• Removed the faulty master cylinder
• Installed a new replacement unit
• Reconnected the brake lines and components
• Bled the brake system thoroughly
• Checked pedal feel and brake operation
• Carried out final checks to make sure everything was working correctly

A firm, consistent brake pedal is essential for safe and predictable braking. If your pedal feels soft, spongy, or is travelling further than normal, it’s worth getting the braking system inspected.

Making light work of a stubborn lower ball joint 🔧💪

When the lower suspension arm ball joint is seized into the hub assembly, a bit of brute force isn’t always the answer. This purpose-built removal tool gives you the leverage and controlled pressure needed to separate the joint without beating the hub to death.

Simple setup, serious force, and a much cleaner way of getting the job done. 👌

How is your heater holding up this winter?

There are several reasons why your car heater might not be working, but some of the most common relate to:

❄️Cooling system. When the coolant level is getting low, the core stops working, or if there is air in the system, your car heater may not run.

💧Water leaks. Water leaks can be a significant problem in car heaters.

💠 Fan. This problem is typically common with the oldest cars.

🌡️Thermostat. If the thermostat is not opening to allow coolant flow through it, the core cannot produce the heat. If the thermostat is the main problem, you may have more significant issues as the vehicle will start to overheat.

🔥Faulty heater core. A faulty heater core has some signs, such as a sweet smell, coolant on the cabin floor and a slimy film on the windows. If you detect some of these signs, you should get your car in for repairs right away. If left untreated, it can undoubtedly lead to overheating and engine damage.

🎛️Broken heater control. The heater control valve refers to a cooling and HVAC system component that is commonly found on cars.

🔧 ALTERNATOR & AUXILIARY BELT REPLACEMENT 🔧

Another charging system fault diagnosed and repaired ✅

This vehicle came in with a battery not charging correctly. Initial testing showed the alternator was producing less than 12V, confirming a fault with the charging system.

🔍 Fault found:
❌ Faulty alternator
❌ Auxiliary belt due for replacement

🛠️ Work carried out:
✔️ Removed faulty alternator
✔️ Fitted new replacement alternator
✔️ Replaced auxiliary/serpentine belt
✔️ Checked belt routing and operation
✔️ Tested charging system after repair

⚡ Final charging voltage: 14.49V
The charging system is now operating correctly and the battery is receiving the correct charging voltage.

Another fault found, diagnosed and repaired properly. 💪🔧

🔧 This vehicle came in for wheel alignment/tracking 🔧

This vehicle came in for a full wheel alignment, and as always, getting the adjustments right starts with accurate measurements.

📐 Our laser alignment system projects precise laser lines onto the alignment targets, allowing us to accurately measure the wheel angles and identify any adjustments needed. This helps us set the wheels to the correct specifications, helping improve tyre wear, steering feel and vehicle stability. 🎯

But before we could make all the necessary adjustments, we had a couple of seized bolts to deal with. Rather than forcing them and risking damage, we used our heat inductor 🔥 to carefully heat the affected area. The controlled heat helps break the corrosion bond between the bolt and surrounding components, allowing the fastener to be removed safely and the adjustment to be carried out properly.

A bit of specialist equipment, the right technique and attention to detail — that’s what goes into doing the job properly. 👌

This vehicle came into the workshop for a service, and once we removed the oil filter, the problem was obvious. 😳

🛢️ Old filter: heavily clogged and contaminated
✨ New filter: clean and ready to do its job

A blocked oil filter can restrict oil flow and reduce the filtration system’s ability to protect the engine. Over time, neglected servicing can contribute to increased engine wear and potentially very expensive repairs.

🔧 WET BELT REPLACEMENT 🔧

This one came in for a wet belt replacement well before the manufacturer’s recommended change interval.

As you can see from the photos, the belt was already showing signs of deterioration, highlighting just how important it is to use the correct manufacturer-specified oil for engines fitted with wet belt systems.

Wet belts rely heavily on the correct oil specification. Using the wrong oil can accelerate belt degradation, potentially leading to belt material breaking down and causing serious engine damage.

✅ Wet belt replaced
✅ Correct manufacturer-specified oil used
✅ Preventative maintenance carried out before failure

Don’t always wait until the recommended interval — prevention is better (and cheaper) than an engine rebuild.
