On September 30th, Economy Cars of Neath will be closing the doors at the Neath Abbey site where I've been located and trading since March 2010. It's been a great 16 years selling excellent condition, small, economical cars and providing, what I believe, 1st class customer service.
Along the way, some of our customers have become life-long friends and the extent of customer service has certainly extended beyond the brief. We've shared stories, laughter, heartache, personal issues and tried to help out the best we can or offer free advice even to those who didn't buy from us. We've sponsored local events, clubs, teams and even donated free cars to worthy causes.
Over the years, customer service has been number one priority. I've been known to be in work 7 days a week, at 4am sorting out issues and leave at midnight, whatever the job takes. But, as I get older, priorities shift. I realise that I haven't spent as much time with my family as I should have. The job has changed. The Motortrade has changed (and not for the better). Suddenly the the job I used to enjoy, I no longer do. So, I've decided to focus on other things for now but especially my family. This decision has been 2 years in the making so its not an overnight action. I've had some great messages from loyal customers who will miss me and I will miss them but this is by no means a time to be sad. I've been in the Motortrade for 34 years. It's just the end of one chapter and a start of another.
Thanks everyone for your loyal support over the years. I should also add, a massive thank you to all my neighbours here at the Neath Abbey site. Brooks Carpentry, Classical Joinery, BAR Propshafts, Sportec, Baileys Blinds and Everglade Windows. You couldn't ask for better neighbours.
Over the years we've given each other business in one form or another and provided help and support to each other when needed. These guys I will miss the most. They all have fantastic businesses and I will continue to support them in the future.
