Port Talbot Motor Club

Port Talbot Motor Club Port Talbot Motor Club has strived in previous years and continues to do so, being famous for its na The club holds annually 2 main stage rally events.

The Tour of Epynt is the long running event that has not changed name or location for many a year. It is based from the small town of Llandovrey, with Rally HQ at The Castle Hotel. The event takes place however a few miles away on the army ranges of Epynt. With multiple miles of pristine tarmac and too many challenging jumps, corners and crests to name, its no wonder that it attracts the who's who

of tarmac rallying and is the opening round of the 2012 REIS MSA Asphalt Championship. The Pro Art Signs Swansea Bay Rally however has taken many guises over the years, from the Peter Russek Rally, to the Kayel Graphics, but it has never left its routes in being a top class gravel event in the Neath and Swansea Valleys. The rally has recently moved base to use the Village Hotel Swansea as Rally HQ, yet keeping a compact route that encompasses the fine forest roads of complexes such as Rhondda and Rheola, that became famous for its uses in Wales Rally GB. The club also holds regular autotests at the grounds of dis used colliery, and museum Cefn Coed, near Crynant. With all courses being set out to encompass driving skill at speed, and in tight and tricky sections such as hairpins, multiple gates and garages, the events are designed to introduce people to motorsport in an affordable way. Anyone older than 14 may enter however those without a license must have someone who does as a passenger. It is usually £10 to enter with Club membership required, at an extra £10 for the whole year. It is a great place to learn about motorsport and meet all types of competitors, from your average joe, having a go in a standard road car, or seasoned regulars and competitors at higher levels bringing their rally cars for a go.

The Jaffa Stages Results.

Congratulations to Phil Turner/Simon Anthony on last weekend's Jaffa Stages. They started the event seeded Car 1,and after a bit of luck going there way when they went off on the infamous Beach Road on SS3, they managed to get back onto stage with no damage and very little time loss to bring the TCS Mitsubishi Evo 9 home by 32sec.Not so lucky was Thomas Cooper/Ian Davis retiring the No1 Home Improvements Mitsubishi Evo 8 on SS1 with Centre Differential Failure, also on the retirement list was Marcus Pagett/Rhys Stoneman in the Nissan Micra Kit Car unfortunately they retired with a snapped Broken Lower Arm.

Well Done Phil/Simon and better luck next time Thomas/Ian & Marcus/Rhys.
