🚗Winter is comming! Driving in adverse weather 🌨️❄️☃️.

It’s Road Safety Week 2025!

When driving in winter conditions:
❄️clear all snow and ice from all your windows
❄️ ensure that lights are clean and number plates are clearly visible and legible
❄️ make sure the mirrors are clear and the windows are demisted thoroughly
❄️ remove all snow that might fall off into the path of other road users
❄️ check your planned route is clear of delays and that no further snowfalls or severe weather are predicted

Rules for driving in adverse weather conditions, including wet weather, icy and snowy weather, windy weather, fog and hot weather.

Test Changes from November 24th 2025.

WHAT ARE THE NEW TEST CHANGES?

- Reducing the number of stops learners must make from four to three.

- Decreasing the frequency of emergency stops from one in three tests to one in seven.

- Giving examiners the power to increase the length of independent driving - which can involve following a satnav, traffic signs, or both - to between 20 minutes and the full duration of the test.

Following a successful 5-month trial, DVSA is rolling out some subtle changes to the practical driving test.

We are aware of misleading articles claiming the driving theory test is ‘’changing’’ in September 2025.

There are currently no plans to bring in any such changes to the driving theory test.
