An entertaining game today up at Johnshaven with the teams sharing the points in an eight goal thriller.

The home side started the better and found an opening goal early on. Claims for a foul in the build up were waved away by the referee and the goal was given.

Craig Christie was alert in the box to grab an equaliser minutes later with a good finish inside the area.

Again the home side put us under more pressure and we rode our luck with some last ditch defending which saw Ross Marshall make two brilliant goal line clearances. A second goal came eventually half way through the half to put the home side 2-1 ahead.

A counter attack relieved the pressure and once again Craig Christie was on hand as he sniffed out another equaliser. Minutes later a long ball over the top saw Christie through on goal and he lobbed the ball over the advancing goalkeeper with a sublime finish to complete a first half hatrick.

It was the home side who again started better in the second half and we found ourselves trailing again with 2 goals in close succession to give the home side a 4-3 lead.

With only minutes remaining we started to throw bodies forward in search of an equaliser. Ryan Laird was on hand to grab the equaliser finishing well from close range.

Neither side managed to create any real chances in the last few minutes and the match ended all square.

A good point in the end for the lads who kept going and managed to dig out a result from a game we could easily have lost.

The next match is on Sunday as we host last years league winners Newgate AFC at Gill Park.
