Steve Plater sums up a challenging weekend at Assen!
"Flipping Eck, Where do I start? The weather was mental—wet, dry, wet, dry—which completely mixed up qualifying. Danny did a great job securing P3 on the front row, building on his progress from Cadwell, while Rory got caught out on slick tyres but dug deep to get 7th for Race 1.
Race 1 was quite positive for Rory, while Danny played it safe given the conditions. Then in Race 2, an oil hose broke on Rory's R1, spraying oil on the tyre and causing a high-speed 5th-gear crash with extensive damage. Fortunately, nobody else was caught up in it.
Both sides of the garage jumped in to repair the bike—forks, yokes, swingarm, wheels, panels, switchgear—and finally got it done with just two minutes to spare.
Because of the crash, Rory had to start the final race from the back of the grid, but he put in an incredible ride to come through to P7. Danny started P9, got knocked off track in the early battles, but fought back well to finish P8.
It wasn't a great weekend on paper, but it showed an incredible team effort from everyone involved with Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha. Now we're looking forward to Donington to reap the rewards of all this hard work."
