🔧 JLR 2.0 Ingenium – Oil Pump Cover Leaks: The Hidden Oil Leak Most Garages Miss 🔧

This Jaguar Land Rover 2.0 Ingenium diesel engine came into our workshop with a significant oil leak.

Many owners assume the leak is coming from the rocker cover, sump, vacuum pump or timing cover, but on these engines one of the most common sources is the oil pump cover assembly and associated seals.

During inspection we identified:

❌ Oil leaking from the oil pump cover assembly
❌ Deteriorated seals and gaskets
❌ Oil contamination around the front of the engine
❌ Multiple leak points requiring attention whilst dismantled

Rather than fitting aftermarket components, we installed:

✅ Genuine JLR oil pump cover
✅ Genuine seals and gaskets
✅ Associated replacement components recommended during repair
✅ Full inspection of the timing chain area whilst accessible

🚨 Corroded Brake Pipes – A Hidden MOT Failure & Serious Safety Risk 🚨

This vehicle came into our workshop for inspection, and we identified heavily corroded rear brake pipes.

Over time, brake pipes are exposed to:

❌ Road salt
❌ Water and moisture
❌ Dirt and debris accumulation
❌ Corrosion hidden behind covers and underbody components

The problem is that many drivers have no warning signs before a pipe fails. One day the brakes feel normal, the next you could suffer a sudden loss of hydraulic pressure and significantly reduced braking performance.

Following our inspection, we:

✅ Removed the corroded sections
✅ Fabricated and fitted new copper brake pipes
✅ Routed and secured them correctly to manufacturer standards
✅ Checked the braking system for leaks and operation
✅ Ensured the vehicle left safe and roadworthy

Copper brake pipes are far more resistant to corrosion and, when fitted correctly, provide a long-lasting repair.

🚨 When DPF & AdBlue Deletes Go Wrong… This Happens! 🚨

These photos are from a vehicle that came into our workshop suffering from severe power loss and multiple engine management faults.

After inspection, we discovered:

❌ DPF internally melted and collapsed
❌ Add blue screen melted
❌ Exhaust system heavily restricted
❌ Pieces of the DPF substrate breaking apart and travelling through the system
❌ Potential engine and turbochargers damage risk due to excessive back pressure

Unfortunately, we are seeing more and more vehicles that have had poorly carried out DPF or AdBlue “deletes” performed elsewhere. When the software is not calibrated correctly, regeneration strategies can continue running in the background, exhaust temperatures can become excessive, and the result is often catastrophic failure.

A proper diagnostic approach is always cheaper than replacing:

💷 Turbochargers
💷 DPF assemblies
💷 Exhaust components
💷 Sensors and AdBlue systems
💷 Potential engine repairs
