This is exactly why wet belt inspections are so important.

What starts as a belt hidden away inside the engine can quickly turn into a major repair if it's allowed to deteriorate. As the belt breaks down, debris can contaminate the engine oil system, block oil pick-up strainers and lead to serious engine damage.

Not every DPF fault is actually a DPF fault.

The Role

This is a diagnostics-first position.

You will be expected to:

Diagnose ECU, CAN network and electrical faults
Trace and repair wiring issues using wiring diagrams and test procedures
Identify root causes — not just fault codes
Diagnose complex engine and drivability faults
Use scopes, live data and logical testing methods
Support other technicians on difficult jobs when required
This role is about understanding systems, not guessing faults.

What We’re Looking For

Level 3 qualified (or equivalent)
Strong proven experience in diagnostics (essential)
Confident reading and interpreting wiring diagrams
Solid understanding of engine operation and control systems
Ability to carry out logical fault finding using test equipment
Experience with oscilloscopes / advanced diagnostics (preferred)
Someone who takes pride in getting the diagnosis right first time

This role is for a skilled technician who takes pride in proper mechanical repair work and can handle bigger, more involved jobs confidently.

We are looking for someone experienced with:

Clutches
Wet belts
Cam belts
Mechanical fault diagnosis
Engine repairs
Braking systems
Suspension work
High-quality mechanical repairs done properly first time

Mercedes, BMW, JLR or German brand experience would be a strong advantage.

This is not just a basic servicing role. We want someone who understands vehicles properly, can diagnose mechanical issues, and wants to be part of a strong workshop team with varied, challenging work.

Pay is above main dealer level, depending on experience.
