Another long and challenging day done .. 2019 transit been in for a/c repair . One of the pipes had rubbed through against some bodywork so replaced them to find condenser leaking when we did a pressure test so replaced the condenser as well . All back together a lovely and cold now. Managed to remove the turbo and dpf from an x trail before I finished only took 2 nights to get them off not a nice job to do at all .

Had this little pickup in yesterday for new timing belt. Water Pump. Thermostat .engine service and sort running issue out which turned out to be an injector seal leaking air . Something a bit different.. mid engined so must be sporty 😆

One of this week's jobs was to get this 2019 citroen running again . Was recovered in as a non runner and after a bit of investigation i found that the timing chain from inlet camshaft to exhaust camshaft had snapped, it's a common problem with this engine the 7mm chain used is weak and fails so the solution it to upgrade to a 8mm kit which means 2 new camshafts a chain and tension and camshaft carrier.
Stripped it down to inspect and found luckily it hadn't done any damage to the valves or followers but once i removed the cam belt found the bottom crank pulley which drives the cam belt had come apart and the back belt guide was in bits and had been rubbing again the cam belt do been very lucky it hadn't snapped the belt.
New cog and cam belt kit fitted along with new upgrade camshaft kit and oil and filter and now up and running again .
New mot and now back with the customer ..

Another day Another wet belt problem.
This transit came in with no brakes due to the vacuum pump failing but the vacuum failed due to timing belt debris blocking the oil feed to the pump and it self destructed...
A new wet belt. Kit Oil pump belt. Sump. Timing case , oil.pick up pipe 2x auxiliary belts, crank pulley and bolt and vacuum pump were fitted along with new oil and filter and antifreeze
We're all replaced all oem parts now ready to

One of today's jobs was to diagnose a fault on this 2021 citroen .
After I ran it through some checks found it to have oil pressure faults which I suspected to be due to wet belt debris blocking the oil pick up pipe and After I removed the sump found as i expected oil pick up pipe blocked with timing belt debris .
We see this fault all to often now these wet belt designs not a good idea and belt goes hard and brakes down in the oil and then blocks the oil pick up.
Now dealers will tell you it's down to incorrect oil or poor service but I've found that to be completely wrong as a lot of the ones I've seen have full dealer history simply just a poor design.
This car had 48k on it and belt was coming apart .. have seen the same issues with much lower mileage too .. something to consider if you have a car with this engine..
A new timing belt kit was supplied and fitted sump and pick up cleaned out and refitted along with new oil and filter ...
