Another busy week at VAGTech 😎

This week was mainly T6's... Lots going on in the workshop.

We've had:

One engine replacement.

Two timing belt replacements, both including sump removal and genuine VW oil pump belts.

One DSG gearbox output shaft spline repair, along with a new flywheel whilst the gearbox was out.

One clutch slave cylinder replacement on a T5.1

A new set of springs fitted on a T5.1

A set of LED Headlights fitted to a super low mileage T6.1

And I even found time to fix the boost issue on my Tfsi K04 swapped caddy - a perforated diaphragm on the recirculation valve!

A good variety of jobs and another load of Transporters back on the road!

AdBlue issues sorted, Stage 1 applied and another one ready to hit the road with a little bit more go! 🚀

If your gear shift is feeling slack, check the weighted shifter on top of the gearbox hasn't come loose!

A quick post about this little fella 👀

Customer phones me last week from France to say their van has gone into limp mode. The breakdown company had been out and there were a couple of fault codes relating to turbocharger actuator position and underboost. 

Luckily, they were on the home stretch of their holiday, so after a quick chat I explained that the van would be safe to drive home in limp mode. Despite it being a very slow and boring journey back to the UK! 😂

Fast forward to yesterday and the van arrives at the workshop. I get the vacuum pump out and start running through a few tests before spotting this little Oriental fella hiding in place of what should have been a German-made counterpart.

And... I was confident I'd found the problem.

Luckily, I've got hoardes of TDI spares lying around, so I grabbed a known-good used N75 valve from one of my piles of bits, swapped it over and...

Ta-daaaaa — BOOST! 

**Lesson of the day:** Don't waste your money on cheap Amazon/Chinese boost control solenoids. When it comes to N75 valves only buy Pierburg or genuine VW!

Cheap parts always cost more in the long run!

I'm going to catch up on the engine swap posts so here's a brief one from the end of May — back in with us for its running-in service.

Striking Pure Grey T6 single turbo (not biturbo this time!) Came in drinking oil and barely managing 380 miles per tank.

Inlet ports were heavily carboned up from overactive EGR, swirl flaps broken choking airflow and killing efficiency. On top of that oil consumption was through the roof too - this was really worn internally!

A brand new crate engine was supplied and fitted from VW along with a recon turbocharger and a host of new bits.

We also supplied and fitted a 6-speed conversion kit while it was with us, swapping it from 5 speed!

Now - 600+ miles per tank, under 2k rpm at 70mph, and zero oil consumption. 😎 The customer is over the moon!

Next up on this one - aircon retrofit incoming 🥶

I'm going to try and post more as I've been slacking with social media recently!

These are just a few from this week -

T5.1 INA timing belt and water pump kit fitted
T5 2.5 clutch and flywheel replacement
T6 DSG flywheel (And full service)
T5.1 full service including DSG.

Also missing photos of a couple of other services, three remaps along with the engine work on the other ramp! 🙃
