Update on the R56. So I took a chance and replaced the brake vacuum pump and fitted a new timing chain. That didn’t work out to well . It did run but not very well . The valves and pistons had made contact. So off with the head and a full strip down revealed two seriously bent valves and a couple of slightly tapped valves. 16 new valves and a few other bits and pieces and with have a very healthy engine running like Swiss watch. Another mini saved from the scrap yard

You guessed it. Yet another R56 that’s eaten its self. Chain guide and sprocket bolt sheared off due to brake vacuum pump failure. Only covered 44000 miles.Next question can I save it?

Palmer works mini clubvan. Whilst replacing the rear discs and pads very late one evening a week ago . I noticed the o/s/r road spring was broken. I purchased these 40 mm lowering spring from eBay 4 years ago. Over 50000 miles on these £89.99 full set eBay lower springs,this one decided to give out. I must say that these lower spring are amazing and give a really smooth ride.No complaints.So at 10 pm at night what did I do. My only means of getting home I took a chance and welded it back together, not expecting it to last more than 5 miles. A week later and just over 400 miles of driving the new springs arrived and to my amazement when I removed the spring I had welded it was still complete.Unbelievable 😂

So this little mini one has come in with a drivetrain issue. It’s a 2015 mini one with approximately 50000 miles on the clock. After scanning fault codes it was showing camshaft timing issues . This it whats been found. Strip down to expose camshafts. Broken chain guide, vanos actuator valve failure and cam sensor pick up on exhaust cam moved. Sump off and lots of little gremlins in there. Will it run again? Time to get the magic wand out🤣

2015 f56 Mini Cooper 53000 miles. In for service. Vibration at low speed. Brake pad warning light on. It’s quite scary to think that there are many other vehicles like this travelling on motorways at 70+ mph. Cars like this could be behind you doing motorway speeds. It’s definitely not going to stop safely. It doesn’t cost must to service a car once a year. It takes a few minutes to walk around your car and check the tyres.
