☀️ 27°C this weekend… is your air con ready for it?

There’s nothing worse than finding out your air con only blows warm air on the hottest day of the year.

If it’s not as cold as it used to be, smells a bit odd, or just hasn’t been checked in a while, now’s a good time to get it sorted before the real heat arrives.

🚗 Ford timing belt due? Worth getting it looked at

We do a lot of timing belt jobs on Fords, including wet belt systems in models like the Fiesta, Focus, Puma, Mondeo, Kuga, Transit Courier and Transit Connect.

If your Ford has a 1.0 EcoBoost, it’s likely running a wet belt. They’re great for efficiency, but a bit more involved when it’s time to change them.

They run inside the engine oil and need the right tools and experience to do the job properly, which we’ve got here at Auto-Tech.

🚗 Don’t let your MOT sneak up on you - Around six million cars in the UK had their MOT late last year.

About 16% of drivers booked their test after their previous MOT had already expired, with the average being just over a month.

It’s easy for the date to slip by when life gets busy. But if your MOT has expired, you shouldn’t be driving the car except to a pre-booked test.

If you’re not sure when yours is due, you can check it quickly here:
https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

You can also book your MOT up to a month before it’s due and still keep the same renewal date, which helps avoid last-minute stress.

California police can now ticket driverless cars… well, sort of.

Turns out pulling over a car with nobody inside creates a bit of a problem.

One self-driving taxi apparently did an illegal U-turn right in front of police. They stopped it, then realised there wasn’t actually anyone to hand the ticket to.

Awkward.

They now have to contact the manufacturer instead, which feels a bit like telling a parent their child’s been causing trouble again.

Then during a blackout in San Francisco, a load of robotaxis just stopped in the middle of busy roads and caused chaos.

The future really is here. Cars can now crash, ignore police and block traffic entirely on their own. Humans must be relieved.
