Only done 2,000 miles this year? You'd think your car would be in fantastic condition. After all, it's hardly done any work!

Unfortunately, cars aren't quite like us. They don't necessarily benefit from putting their feet up.

Brakes can get rusty - Batteries can go flat - Tyres can deteriorate with age -️ Fluids don't last forever

And just like us after two weeks on the sofa, getting moving again isn't always as easy as it should be!

Your air conditioning helps remove moisture from the air inside the car, which means it can clear a misted-up windscreen much faster on damp mornings.

Using it regularly throughout the year can also help keep the system in good working order rather than leaving it unused for months at a time.

🍂 Colder mornings are creeping in, and that can mean one small thing is worth checking on your car: tyre pressures.

As the temperature drops, tyre pressures can drop with it. If they're too low, it can affect:

🛞 Tyre wear
⛽ Fuel economy
🚗 Handling
🛑 Braking

It only takes a couple of minutes to check them, and the correct pressures can usually be found inside the driver's door or in your handbook.

One of those simple checks that's easy to forget, but well worth doing as autumn sets in.

Things worth keeping an eye on include:

Lots of short journeys can mean:

🚗 The engine regularly not reaching full operating temperature
💨 Potential DPF problems on some diesel cars
🛢️ Oil and other components working harder over time
