Here at O’Reilly’s Repairs, we take workshop snacking very seriously… and biscuits are often top of the garage shopping list. 🍪☕️

Dave’s choice is a classic chocolate digestive… although if we’re talking proper treats, he’ll happily demolish a packet of chocolate Fox’s cookies too.

Jenna, meanwhile, is firmly team custard cream.

One thing about modern cars... They love to keep mechanics on their toes.😅

Sometimes a job should be straightforward. But the tool doesn’t quite fit, the part is awkwardly placed, or the car manufacturer seems to have hidden something for fun.

Luckily, Dave usually has a solution. 🛠

Over the years he’s built up a collection of custom tools, adapted tools and “that might work…” inventions made from bits of other tools pieced together to get tricky jobs done properly.

Honestly, half the battle of being a mechanic is figuring out how to reach the thing in the first place.

So if you ever hear “I’ve got a tool for that” coming from the workshop… there’s a fair chance it’s something Dave invented himself. 😂

DPF warning light on? Don't panic and don't pay for a replacement. A clean could save you thousands.

(And if you’re wondering what a DPF is… it’s a filter in your diesel vehicle that helps reduce emissions by trapping soot and particles.)

Earlier this year, we invested in a professional DPF cleaning machine so we could offer an affordable, reliable service to customers in Melksham and beyond.

We’ve had some brilliant feedback already, from local garages looking for a quick turnaround without sending DPFs further afield, to customers bringing in loose DPFs for cleaning.

A lady brought her daughter’s car into us recently for a pre-MOT service.

Like a lot of parents, she just wanted to make sure it was safe, sorted and had the best chance of passing.

So Dave took a proper look over it.

And the honest truth was... yes, we could have done the work needed to get it through the MOT. But by the time you added everything up, she’d have been spending more than the car was realistically worth.

So Dave told her exactly that.
No pressure.
No long list of “urgent” repairs.
No charge for the advice.

Because we think it's important to do the right thing and save someone from spending money they don’t need to spend.

We know that finding a garage you can trust isn’t always easy.
But we’ll always try to give honest, straightforward advice, even when that means there’s no job in it for us.

Dave’s getting a bit of a reputation when it comes to welding 🔥

And it's not just that he's brilliant at what he does (which he is by the way!).
It’s what he’s working with too.

We use Zintec instead of your standard mild steel.
Sure, it costs us a bit more, but it’s got a protective zinc layer that helps stop corrosion.

You can see the difference in this picture with the two materials side by side. Mild steel (on the left) will rust quickly when it gets wet, but Zintec (on the right) will keep everything looking and working better for longer.

And that's the way we like it. No cutting corners, or quick fixes just a high quality job done well that lasts.
