If your car suddenly starts making a weird noise, don't just turn the radio up! 🙉

Squealing? Could be brakes/belts.
Grinding? Worth getting checked promptly.
Knocking? Don't ignore it.
Clicking when turning? Could be something in the drivetrain.
Hissing? Could have several causes.

🔊Strange noises don't always mean something expensive is wrong. But they're usually worth investigating before they become something expensive.

Your vehicle might have one of these. You probably don't know what it is. And you definitely don't want to have to pay to replace it. 😂

This is a DPF, or Diesel Particulate Filter.

It's fitted to diesel vehicles to trap soot and other particles from the exhaust.

But over time, they can become blocked. And we've had plenty of customers come to us after being told they need a new one.

Except sometimes, they don't.

A professional clean can often restore a DPF that's blocked with soot and ash, rather than replacing the whole thing.

We clean loose DPFs here at O'Reilly's Repairs, potentially saving you the cost of a brand new one.

So if you've been told you've got a DPF light on your dashboard or a DPF needs replacing, talk to us before you order the expensive bit. 🔧

There's rather more to a motorhome than meets the eye.👀

This Peugeot Boxer might look like a fairly unassuming big white box from the outside.

Underneath, though, it's a whole different story.

Dave has been getting stuck in with a new clutch kit to keep this one doing what it was built to do: getting people off on their adventures.

And yes, there are an alarming number of mechanical bits involved. 😂

One minute there’s a rather significant gap where your sill ought to be…

And the next, there’s a brand new one sitting neatly in place.

Welding can feel a bit like magic sometimes. And that's one of the reasons Dave loves doing it so much. Seeing that tranformation is so satisfying. 👌

#1 - A warning light doesn't necessarily mean something catastrophic has happened.
#2 - That little noise you've been ignoring probably isn't going to fix itself.
#3 - Your tyres need more than a quick glance at the tread.
#4 - A service isn't just an oil change.
#5 - If your car feels different, you're probably not imagining it.
#6 - Don't wait until your car won't start to think about the battery.
#7 - Not every problem needs fixing immediately, but you should know what you're dealing with.

Another exhaust job in the workshop last week... 🔧

Dave was working on a MINI Countryman that needed a new catalytic converter.

The old one is looking a little worse for wear! 😬

The catalytic converter is part of the exhaust system and helps reduce harmful emissions from the engine. When there's a problem with it, it can cause warning lights, emissions issues and potentially an MOT failure.

So it was out with the old and in with the new.

Another job ticked off and another vehicle back on the road.
