N14 Mini Clubman S

This mini clubman was in due to the notorious timing chain rattle, which we were well and truly surprised to see given that the vehicle had only covered just over 34,000 miles and was extremely well kept

The vehicle still ran and drove well but on start up had a horrific rattle and didn’t sound much better on idle as you can hear from the video

We found an excessive amount of slack in the timing chain and some damage to one of the chain guides

The customer requested that we fit an aftermarket timing chain kit to meet his budget and with further authorisation allowed us to drop the sump, inspect and clean due to the broken guides

We replaced:
Timing chains
Chain guides and sprocket
Timing chain tensioner
Sump removal, clean and reseal
Oil and oil filter replacement

2017 Range Rover Evoque

We have had an influx of Land Rover and Jaguar customers contacting us recently for help due to the dreaded rattle or engine lights appearing on their dash

This customer contacted us due to an engine light on the dashboard and due to hearing a rattle on start up, upon inspection we found camshaft sensor faults and a hideous rattling noise coming from the engine bay

We stripped down the engine and as you can see the upper timing chain tensioner is fully extended and there is still an excessive amount of slack in the upper timing chain
This vehicle had only covered 60k miles and has already started failing

We replaced the upper and lower timing chains, timing chain tensioners, guides
We also replaced the VVT hub due to it not locking
VVT hubs can be replaced as part of the standard repair or upon later inspection if found to be faulty

These are now a common failure point for all of the 2.0l Jaguar/Land Rover Ingenium engines and would advise that if you own a vehicle with this engine that you have the timing chains checked to ensure you do not incur an unexpected hefty bill due to sudden engine failure

BMW 3 Series

This vehicle was recovered into us as the vehicle kept on cutting out on the customer.
Upon our diagnosis we found that the EGR valve was not functioning and was jammed.
Upon further investigation into the fault we also found that the EGR cooler was leaking coolant internally which is a common failure point on these diesel BMW’s

We carried out:
- EGR valve and cooler assembly replacement
- Vacuum bled the cooling system to prevent any airlocks and ensured the cooling system was secure
- Programmed the vehicle to the latest software as the vehicle was still on factory software

Happy Sunday everyone!

Sorry we’ve neglected Instagram for a while due to being so busy! With building the new unit and moving in as well as some staff changes then becoming extremely busy we forgot about posting

Just a quick one to let everyone know that we are only open Monday and Tuesday this week as we will be closed Wednesday - Sunday for our wedding! 💒

During this period emails will be very lightly monitored however any questions or booking queries please get in touch and we will respond as soon as possible

Wednesday is the drive up so emails will be responded to in a timely manner until around 3pm that day
Thursday is the big day so no emails will be responded to, Friday we will be reminiscing on the big day and curing a sore head so emails will unlikely be responded to then
Saturday and Sunday emails will be responded too but will take time

We ask all our valued customers and news one to bear with us during this period

Going forward when we are away the business will be ran by our other employee Tom who will have a helping hand from our trainee Tommy
Yes I know Tom and Tommy is rather confusing!

Our recovery agent FCJ transport has had a busy day collecting cars for us today!

Ford C Max from Witham with a suspected snapped timing belt
BMW 520d from Mayland with a fuel leak and wiring repair as the fuel filter caught fire
Honda Jazz from Burnham with gearbox issues
Mini Clubman returned to the customer in Brentwood for storage
Finally to end the day a Kia Sportage from South Woodham Ferrers for timing chain repair due to chain rattle

All in a days work and they’ll all be going back to their owners by the end of the week
