Its naturally aspirated engine, Pininfarina-era design and place immediately before Ferrari’s adoption of turbocharging give it a significance that newer and objectively faster models cannot reproduce.

One of Jaguar’s best ideas started as an after-hours sketch.

The F-TYPE Project 7 was originally penned by Jaguar designer César Pieri, whose D-Type-inspired vision caught the eye of Design Director Ian Callum. Just four months later, it appeared as a running concept at Goodwood in 2013.

The response was so strong Jaguar put it into production: 250 cars, 575PS, and arguably one of the purest expressions of the Callum-era Jaguar.

Proof that sometimes the best designs begin without a brief.

2015 Jaguar Project 7. One of 250 cars (only 80 for the UK). 5-litre supercharged V8 producing 567 bhp. 383 miles.
