Sprinter 907 with the best 3.0 v6 OM642 Engine, it has done over 400k miles.
But it has some faults which is where I come in, it has repeated underboost faults. Checks found the silencer thing to be leaking out the seem, this seal is not available from MB but for £70ish you can change the entire housing.
However this was not the only issue, it would have been easy to leave it at that but something was bugging me with the dpf pressure.
When the engine was running is was showing 0hpa of dpf pressure which is too low in my opinion for a 400k mile dpf.
Because I expected the exhaust downstream of the dpf was blocked I removed the downstream dpf pressure hose, this then revealed the blockage downstream. Instantly I had 60hpa of back pressure at idle but when the revs came up I had 600hpa dpf pressure.
Once the SCR cat was removed I found what initially looked like adblue in the exhaust but on closer inspection it was the DPF ceramic. Turns out someone has just ran a drill bit through the dpf but now its falling apart and going into the scr cat causing a blockage.
I left this one for the customer to decide the fix as it needs more work than just the dpf now.
