๐ฃ๏ธ MOTORWAY DRIVING โ IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT GOING FASTER๐
For many drivers, their first motorway journey can feel daunting. Even experienced drivers can be caught out by changing speed limits, heavier traffic and wider roads.
Remember:
๐ฆ Speed limits can change quickly โ Always keep an eye on overhead gantry signs and adjust your speed smoothly.
๐ Don't let the road fool you โ Wide, open motorways can make you feel like you're travelling slower than you actually are. Regularly check your speedometer to avoid "speed creep."
๐ Observation is everything โ Check your mirrors frequently, anticipate traffic ahead and always be aware of vehicles in your blind spots.
โฑ๏ธ Keep a safe following distance โ Leave at least a 2-second gap in dry conditions and at least 4 seconds when it's wet.
๐ด Long journeys can be tiring โ Fatigue affects your concentration and reaction times. If you're feeling tired, take a break at the next service area. A short rest could save your life.
Whether you're a learner preparing for Pass Plus or an experienced driver looking to build confidence on the motorway, good planning and good habits make every journey safer.
