Trigger warning. Themes of child loss and miscarriage
Somedays I feel like her,Â
A deep inner knowing passed down from my fertile ancestors, bloodline to bloodlineÂ
A purpose in life, nurturing; warm,Â
Today,Â
I am hollow, an imposter, incomplete
Heavy chest, ball in throat, steadfast, immovable
I recall the rhythmic waves of pain,Â
Crouched on the floor, praying for relief,Â
Yet never will I get to sew your name in freshly purchased school uniform,Â
or beam as I proudly reveal you as a caterpillar with human arms and legs on world book day
