🔧 Catastrophic Engine Failure – A Closer Look 🔧
This vehicle arrived with a severe engine failure that left it completely out of action.
After removing the sump, we discovered a large section of internal metal had broken away and punched a hole straight through the side of the engine block. As you can see from the photos, the damage was extensive.
The most likely cause of this type of failure is a thrown connecting rod, often resulting from:
• Bearing failure
• Oil starvation
• Excessive internal wear
• A seized engine component
Once a bearing fails, the connecting rod can break free and strike the engine block with incredible force, causing catastrophic damage. In this case, the damage was so severe that internal engine components exited the block, making the engine beyond economical repair.
The good news? A replacement engine has now been sourced, rebuilt where necessary, and is being installed to get this vehicle back on the road.
