UPDATE Charlie has now been found and all is well.
As many of you know, last night’s severe storm hit very close to home. Tragically, our neighbour's house was struck by lightning and has been badly damaged by the resulting fire.
First and foremost, we are incredibly relieved to share that no one was injured. ❤️
What this means for Wents Service Station:
We are completely safe
There is no damage to Wents.
We will be open as normal on Monday morning to welcome you all back.
The fire brigade worked tirelessly through the night to bring the blaze under control despite struggling with a lack of water pressure. A temporary water butt was set up outside the garage today to assist. Thank you for your understanding and for giving them space to work.
We want to extend our massive, heartfelt thanks to the incredible fire and rescue service. Some of whom had been working consecutive shifts of over 24 hours just to keep our community safe.
It was our absolute privilege to keep the doors open for them through the night, providing hot tea, coffee, and a place to use the facilities while they worked.
Our thoughts are with our neighbour today as they recover from this devastating event, and our immense gratitude goes out to the heroes who protected us all.
Thank you all for your continued support and messages of concern.
Please keep a eye out for their cat unfortunately it escaped from the house when the fire fighters were there. It’s an indoor cat and never been out so very timid.
