🚗 DPF Clean vs Engine Carbon Clean – What’s the Difference?
I get asked this question a lot, so here’s a simple explanation.
A DPF clean is specifically designed to remove the built-up of soot inside your vehicle’s Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). If your car has a DPF blockage, warning light, or regeneration issues, a professional DPF clean is the most effective way to properly clear the filter and restore its performance.
An engine carbon clean, on the other hand, focuses on removing carbon deposits from inside the engine itself (such as intake components and combustion areas). While this can improve engine efficiency, it does not directly clean the DPF filter.
⚠️ So if your problem is a blocked or restricted DPF, an engine carbon clean alone won’t solve the issue.
✅ A proper DPF clean is the best solution for a DPF problem — it targets the filter directly and removes the soot causing the blockage.
If you’re unsure what your vehicle needs, feel free to get in touch and I’ll happily advise.
We were called out to customers house to this Mercedes as it had failed the MOT with the engine light on. We carried out a DPF clean with good results. Car is now back at full power and ready for the MOT.
