October in Greece moves at a slightly different pace.

The harbours are calmer, the water has had all summer to warm up and the busiest weeks of the season are behind us.

You can still fill the days with sailing, swimming and exploring. There is simply a little more room to linger over lunch, take your time on the quay and enjoy the islands without feeling as though anyone is in a rush.

If you like your holidays warm, relaxed and just outside the main summer crowds, October might suit you very well indeed.

Our 2026 RYA programme is almost full, so we are already looking ahead to next year.

There is something rather satisfying about taking the helm of your own yacht and realising you know what to do.

For many of our flotilla skippers, the journey begins with an RYA course.

A week of practical learning in Greece can give you the skills, experience and confidence to start imagining a very different kind of family holiday. One where you choose the crew, take charge of the yacht and sail from one Greek island to the next, with our lead crew never too far away.

A flotilla day can feel wonderfully long.

Breakfast on the quay. A swim before leaving. A gentle sail or motor to a bay for lunch. Another swim, because nobody is in a hurry. Then the afternoon breeze arrives and carries you towards the evening’s harbour.

By sunset, you have sailed somewhere new, swum in impossibly clear water, eaten very well and met another collection of people you would never have crossed paths with at home.

Nothing has been rushed, but somehow the day feels completely full.

That might be the real luxury of a sailing holiday. Not doing nothing, but having enough time to notice everything.

The sails are down. The day’s swimming gear is drying on the rail. Everyone is a little sun-kissed, a little salty and completely relaxed.

A cold drink. A glowing horizon. Nowhere else you need to be.

We could get used to evenings like these.

Now that the A-level results are in, there’s no better way to congratulate your teenagers than with a gentle week or two sailing around the Greek Islands.

Days spent sailing and swimming, followed by evenings in local Greek tavernas, should certainly help to clear a few foggy brains!

We still have a few bits and bobs available before September:

⛵ The Whole Ionian fortnight
Departing this coming weekend, with two Beneteau 323s and one Beneteau 361 still available with some very special offers, including flights.

⛵ The Saronic Islands
This coming weekend is fully booked, but we have a Beneteau 331 available for the following departure, flying on 30th August. It’s essentially the first two weeks of September and a lovely way to stretch out the summer.

⛵ One-week South Ionian flotilla
Almost everything is full until the end of September, but we’ve had a couple of cancellations on our one-week South Ionian flotilla.

Can’t get away at the last minute? October is a wonderful time to sail in Greece, with warm days, quieter harbours and a more relaxed pace.

⛵ RYA sailing courses
Our RYA training yachts are busy until the end of October, so the team is now turning its attention to next year. If learning to sail or gaining your next qualification is on your list, now is a good time to start planning.

As we sink into the school summer holidays, we want to say a huge thank you to all our incredible Lead Crews.

You know the drill. It’s an epic job—but most certainly not an easy one.

They take responsibility for the whole flotilla while staying calm under pressure. They plan routes, monitor the weather, adapt when conditions change and somehow keep smiling through it all.

They arrange group meals and punch parties, answer endless questions, find time for beach Olympics—and wear it all with impressive style.

So, to all our brilliant Lead Crews: thank you. We couldn’t do it without you!
