⚡ BIG changes for electric van operators — starting 1 June 2026!

From Sunday, electric vans weighing between 3,501kg and 4,250kg will no longer be tested under HGV-style rules. Instead, they'll move into the standard Class 7 MOT category — the same as your everyday diesel van.

What does that mean in practice?
✅ First MOT at 3 years old (not after just 1 year)
✅ Lower MOT fees
✅ Testing at ordinary MOT stations — no more specialist ATF centres
✅ Less downtime for your fleet

This is one of the biggest regulatory wins for electric van fleets in years — and it's part of the Government's push to hit the 2030 zero-emission van target.

Not sure if your van is affected? Check the gross vehicle weight on your V5C. If it's between 3,501kg and 4,250kg and zero-emission, these new rules apply to you.
