WE are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Kanya King CBE

Reena had the privilege of meeting Kanya before Women Empowered was founded, she was always a champion of what we were trying to achieve. Her encouragement, support and belief in empowering women meant so much.

When Kanya spoke at one of our events, she shared her remarkable journey—from growing up in challenging circumstances to creating the MOBO Awards, a platform that transformed the British music industry by celebrating talent that had too often gone unrecognised. Her determination, vision and courage changed lives and opened doors for countless artists.

We will remember her warmth, generosity and genuine kindness. She was someone who lifted up others, encouraged people to believe in themselves and was always willing to help others succeed.

Kanya’s legacy extends far beyond her extraordinary achievements. She inspired people to dream bigger, work harder and keep moving forward despite the obstacles. She reminds us that challenges can become opportunities for growth and that success comes from setting goals, believing in yourself and working relentlessly towards them.

WE are so saddened by the passing of the utterly inspirational Tulsi Vagjiani.

Her goal was to share her story on a global scale and create awareness and empowerment. ‘Take a leap into the positivity- where fears disappear and opportunities appear’

Her strength and her words, touched and inspired so many people. Her legacy will continue to encourage others to live with hope, resilience, and purpose.

Below you will see photos of Abby Ghafoor, Mani Kohli, Zamiha Desai and Pavan Dhanjal. All have recently been honoured with Royal Honours 🎉

The FIRST time Mani, Zamiha and Pavan shared their stories on stage (and that too straight into the deep end with over 100 people in the room) was at WE - Women Empowered

I recall how nervous Zamiha and Pavan were putting their words together - they need not have been. They were naturals and their stories showed how a simple problem or a passion could become something so much bigger, a movement, a trend, a lifeline for so many.…whilst building enterprise and bringing cultural awareness along the way!!

I remember Mani, who had been reluctant to share her story on a number of occasions, agreeing to speak to our group. Her story oscillates between one of disbelief, sheer grit and resilience and the simply extraordinary unfolding events. I remember watching her son as she spoke sitting in the audience, Mani picking each and every word with such care and consideration to honour her truth and share her reality while trying to protect his. Mani now tells me that I made her talk and now she will not stop talking about her story, which is fabulous!! Messages of hope and resilience should be shared often and abundantly as there are many ears that need to hear them

Abby - she is the invisible scaffolding that so many do not see. She is a voice at the end of the phone calming you down, and with simple, kind yet firm words, she reminds you to have faith, courage and that you have this. She is a person who champions others relentlessly, the encouragement you need and don’t know you need. Her optimism is infectious, she champions people an lifts them up, and the gives the the courage to go further.

And the last three photos are WE - without Dee Vara Dhrupti Unalkat Kajal Patel Pritti Virdee Sunita Behl Mona Remtulla- there would never been a platform

When we invest in champion each other, we do not diminish ourselves, but we multiply power - and the room does not just change when we enter it but it remains changed when we leave it. WE saw that over and over again at each event.

True leadership is not about becoming someone else.It is about becoming fully yourself — and bringing others with you.

Give to Gain.

Happy IWD 2023!

This photo was taken at our last signature WE event on 6th March 2020. Soon after our event the world locked down and changed in ways we could not have imagined. We have not been able to go back to what WE once was, costs and changes in our new normals have played some part.

There is still a need for role models, inspiration and support and we hope we are able to find new ways to continue to do what WE has done; share stories, provide a platform, a place to be inspired to do that special thing that makes a difference to your life as you see it....allow you to find a way to be the best possible version of yourself.

The words equity and equality are often used interchangeably. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action. When we embrace equity, we embrace diversity, and we embrace inclusion.

We embrace equity to forge harmony and unity, and to help drive success for all.

Equality is the goal, and equity is the means to get there.

Through the process of equity, we can reach equality.
