What a tournament. What a moment.

Fans in the three host nations stepped up, took their shot, and became a part of something truly special with Visa.

Football, art, and fandom came together in the Visa Tap In Studio to give a global platform to some of the world's most talented illustrators while putting fans right at the heart of the FIFA World Cup.

We’ve loved seeing the artwork from everyone who took part. Thank you to those who tapped in and unleashed their fandom.

Community is what makes sport worth watching.

It's not just about what happens on the pitch. It's what the fans create around it; with the players, with the game, with each other.

Covid stripped that away. Empty stadiums, no atmosphere, no noise. Football was technically back, but something essential was missing.

For brands, this taught a huge lesson: the sweet spot isn't visibility, it's finding new ways to recreate that same sense of community, wherever the fans are. This World Cup has been proof of exactly that. From packed fan zones to pubs and living rooms alike, communities have shown up everywhere the tournament has touched, right through to the final whistle.

What is a sense of place? And how do you build it into a physical destination?

Last week, we were back in the studio to talk about exactly that for the latest episode of our FYI podcast, joined by Ceylan Belek Ombregt, Partner at Martha Schwartz Partners, and Christophe Castagnera, Head of Strategy and Experience Advisory at Imagination Middle East.

Hosted by our Global Chief Strategy Officer, Tom Gray, the conversation asks why physical architecture alone can't create a thriving destination. It explores what can happen when developers, architects, and delivery partners come together from day one, weaving story and soul into masterplanning, mixed-use developments, and public space.

Stay tuned for more.

Events have posted yet another quarter of consecutive market growth compared with other marketing channels.

The latest IPA Bellwether report reveals Q2 2026 budgets are up +6.9% overall, with brands leaning further into live, in-person experiences.

Our Chairman and CEO, Patrick Reid, shared his perspective with Campaign Magazine: “Brands are doubling down on live engagement and experiential marketing, recognising them not just as tactical, one-off activations, but as essential drivers of long-term growth, brand equity, and customer loyalty.”

One final for one shared obsession. The Visa Tap In Studio is going all in for the closing stretch of the FIFA World Cup.

As the tournament heads into its final days, the Visa Tap In Studio is on site at New York New Jersey Stadium ahead of Sunday’s final. The tournament has brought the Tap In studios to fans across three countries in four weeks, with this last instalment set to be the biggest yet.

Fans across every stop have turned their passion into art, working alongside illustrators from over 20 of the competing nations to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir to showcase their support.

The simple act of a tap, transformed into a memorable celebration of football fandom.

Personalisation isn't the endgame, participation is.

Brands have spent years tailoring experiences for consumers. The more interesting question now is how to build experiences consumers can shape themselves.

Harri Narhi, UX Designer, explores what AI is doing to the experiential sector, and why the brands getting this right have stopped asking "how do we use AI?" and started questioning “how do we create personal experiences that mean something?”

Snickers gave fans a deepfake José Mourinho to roast their footballing blunders, then dropped the video straight into their WhatsApp group chat. Florida's Dalí Museum lets visitors pick up a phone and talk to an AI-recreated Salvador Dalí, trained on his own writing and voice. Even buying a car is shifting: from static configurators, to conversations that build a vehicle around how someone actually lives.

People don't want to witness a campaign, they want to shape it.

Zack Baker builds every event like it's the one that'll define his career, a mindset shaped long before he ever set foot on a job site.

His most influential creative experience was organising a student film festival in rural Michigan. Its sole purpose was to bring together disparate film enthusiasts, but it turned into something more: his first real lesson in experiential design. That project planted a seed that's shaped everything he's done since, and it's why he sees each new event as a chance to raise the bar just a little higher.

It's a philosophy that runs through everything Zack shares in this month's Experiences That Made Me feature, from the Ford Super Duty x Carhartt Work In Progress Reveal that marked his first project as Production Manager, to October’s upcoming Raptor Rally in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Megafans aren’t confined to the stadium anymore.

The internet has transformed every match into a globally accessible event. For die-hard fans, it’s in the WhatsApp groups lighting up at 3am, the shirts worn thousands of miles from home, and the online communities following every minute without ever walking through the turnstiles.

At the same time, rapid growth and globalisation have shifted sport into a massive entertainment outlet. It’s no longer just for the die-hards, it’s easily accessible for casual audiences who are just there for the entertainment.

So how do brands navigate this tension? What does the game mean to the deeply invested fans, versus the casual audiences just looking to be entertained?

In-person magic or online reach? Why choose?

The best brand experiences aren't built for one audience, they're built for two: the crowd living it in the room, and the much bigger one watching it unfold on their feed.

Strategy Lead, Alex Beazley-Long, breaks down our 'Depth and Reach' framework - the thinking behind activations designed to land in person and keep travelling long after the room empties.

Memorability and reach, not memorability or reach.
