New Tesla Roadster finally revealed, and it's a literal rocketship! 🚀🔥💫

The long-awaited new Tesla Roadster has finally arrived, featuring rocket technology borrowed from SpaceX that allows it to do 0-60mph in less than a second and fly. No, we’re not kidding, this thing can fly.

“You’re going to see some crazy stuff tonight”, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told the crowd at the reveal event for the new Roadster. “What you see with your eyes, you will not believe!”

The new Roadster features cold-gas thrusters that fire pressurised air out of four holes in the rear of the car, with the gas exiting faster than the speed of sound and, supposedly, creating over 80 kilonewtons of thrust. That’s about the same amount as the engines in some fighter jets and commercial airplanes. Gulp.

BMW M3 Touring vs Audi RS 5 Avant: the ultimate fast estates go head-to-head 💪😎🇩🇪

Performance car fans tend to have a penchant for fast estates. The likes of Subaru, Volvo, Nissan and Volkswagen have all dabbled with the formula, but the German big three of Mercedes, Audi and BMW have made it a niche of their own.

Arguably it’s Audi that created the fast estate template when it unveiled the Porsche-developed RS 2 Avant, and it has continued to push the envelope of what a rapid load-lugger can do. The RS 4 Avant consistently increased performance, but now the freshly minted RS 5 Avant is here, complete with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that’s designed to deliver efficiency and more power and tech than ever.

To find out how this new model stacks up, we’ve lined it up against one of our favourite fast estate cars, the BMW M3 Touring. The M3 achieved legendary status with its motorsport exploits, but it was only ever offered as a saloon, coupé or convertible (later as the M4). That changed when the current G80 version arrived, because it has been joined by the G1 Touring model. As with the RS 5, four-wheel drive is standard, but there’s no hybrid trickery, just pure power from BMW’s twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine.

Cupra Raval sharpens up with ABT add-ons 🫵👀😎😍

Cupra’s long-running collaboration with the ABT tuning brand has now reached the Raval. First revealed for the Cupra Leon and Curpa Formentor earlier this year, the range of Custom Cupra by ABT packs has expanded to the affordable EV.

Although there’s a similar-looking bevvy of performance add-ons, the set-up here is a little different, with the kit available as standard on a new VZ ABT trim level which will join the line-up from November, ahead of initial deliveries in January 2027.

The trim level includes ‘Cup’ heated bucket seats, a Sennheiser sound system, a top/rear-view camera, interior door-panel projections and a ‘next-generation’ version of Cupra’s SmartLight ambient-lighting system.

As for the Custom Cupra by ABT kit, it’s said to be inspired by the UrbanRebel concept, which previewed the production Raval back in 2021. The pack adds front and rear splitters, side skirts, a prominent roof spoiler, exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels, ABT lettering and some unspecified interior enhancements.

The unloved Hyundai Bayon is being thrust into the modern era with what bosses describe as a “significant transformation” – including a distinctive new look and a frugal hybrid powertrain. The hope being it can finally challenge big-selling rivals such as the Ford Puma and Nissan Juke. Prices should start from around £25,000 when the car arrives early next year.

On sale since 2021, the supermini-sized small SUV has so far failed to win the hearts and minds of British new-car buyers. But big upgrades for the second-generation model aim to alter perceptions with substantial changes under the metal, and a bold new look inspired by the latest Tucson.

Stellantis hit the ground running at the Paris Motor Show, revealing no less than six striking concept cars across six brands the night before the event’s kick-off. For us, it might well be the production-previewing Citroen 2CV that steals the show, and to help it further, the brand has doubled down by bringing a Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette van concept to the French capital.

The original 2CV Fourgonnette (the French word for ‘small van’) is one of Citroen’s most iconic commercial vehicles, perhaps second only to the H van that food truck proprietors seem to love so much. The new take on the Fourgonnette looks much the same as the 2CV concept up to the B-pillars, but from there rearwards, it’s very different.

Wild new Alpine A310 Vision concept will make you forget all about the A110 😍😎👀💪🇫🇷

The daring Alpine A310 has returned as a nefarious-looking two-seater that embodies the performance brand’s ambitions to reach new levels of desirability and exclusivity on a par with Porsche and even Ferrari.

The wedge-shaped 2+2 sports car from the seventies was set to be reborn as Alpine’s answer to the Porsche 911, but not any more. Instead, the A310 Vision concept revealed at the 2026 Paris Motor Show is a jaw-dropping demonstration of what Alpine can do with its to-die-for ‘special projects’ cars, building on the £235,000 A110 R Ultime from 2024.

They will be designed to deliver a tailored customer experience and much greater personalisation, not to mention serious driving thrills. These low-volume, big-money creations are “the cherry on the cake, to elevate the brand”, Alpine’s head of design Antony Villain told Auto Express.

New Smart #2: pint-sized EV arrives with 180-mile range for £20k price ⚡👀👣

This is the all-new, pint-sized Smart #2: the antithesis of the big, bloated SUVs constantly clogging up city streets these days. It will cost less than £20,000 and, at just 2.74 metres long, is set to be the smallest car in Europe when it arrives next year.

The tiny two-seater EV is the successor to the innovative, ultra-compact Smart ForTwo, originally known as the City Coupe, marking the quirky brand’s return to the city-car space after its reinvigoration by new owners Geely and launching three SUVs back-to-back.

Created in just two years, the #2 is underpinned by an all-new, purpose-built architecture engineered by Smart that gives it a 180-mile range – more than twice the range of the old electric ForTwo EQ – and “unmatched urban agility”, the brand boldly claims. The proof is a turning circle of only 6.95 metres, which is a lot tighter than the latest Fiat 500 or MINI Cooper’s, and a typical London street curb-to-curb.

A new Renault Espace? Radical Paris concept reimagines the iconic MPV 😎😍🇫🇷

Behold what we can only hope is the next-generation Renault Espace. Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the new E-Space concept puts a contemporary spin on the French firm’s pioneering people-carrier from the eighties, and could be the car that makes MPVs properly cool again.

This big retro family bus is the second time Renault has previewed a new Espace this year alone, with the R-Space Lab concept that was unveiled in March featuring a more modern, forward-focused design. Whichever direction the brand goes, we’re expecting a production model sometime in the 2030s, giving the Kia PV5 and VW ID. Buzz time to prepare a defence.

Renault’s had massive success with the rebirth of the Renault 5, Renault 4 and Twingo, so why not give Espace the same treatment. With the E-Space, the designers have proved how they can revive the spirit and design of the original, making sure this futuristic show car is familiar to fans, while at the same time evolving things.

Wild Peugeot E-T16 concept reinvents iconic 205 eighties rally car 😎🇫🇷💪

Peugeot has revealed the new E-T16 concept – an all-electric tribute to one of the most distinctive cars ever to win the World Rally Championship.

2026 marks 40 years since Peugeot completed back-to-back victories with its 205 Turbo 16 (or T16) in the drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships in 1986, which also marked the end of the iconic Group B era.
