Haven't been active for awhile due to health scare but improving and feeling much better. I stripped Z1000J engine about a month ago and it wasn't a pretty sight. This is why you should never ever use RTV silicone sealer anywhere near an engine! One of the oil feed to a main bearing was blocked by a lump of the stuff, fortunately it's a roller bearing and it gets some oil splash fed from sump as crank rotates. If you must use a sealer on the gaskets I allways use "Wellseal " liquid type sealer that you brush on as thin as you can. Buzzard@thebuzzworkz

Kawasaki Z1R engine done. 1075cc , Z1000J head, GPZ1100 Uni-trac cams, 37.50mm inlet valves and 31mm exhaust valves, head was ported and flow test on my flowbench, 21% up on stock head at 0.400 lift. (Tested at 10" pressure on my Superflow 110) Head was skimmed to get compression back up to 10 to 1. Dyna 2000 ignition and coils. Will be running on some 29mm smoothbores. Buzzard@thebuzzworkz

Been busy over Christmas and new year, been working on 3 cylinder heads. 1st a stock Z1A head, new guides and new valves and seat recut. 2nd a Z1000J head, new guides, porting, seat throat machined to 85% of new valve diameter, +1mm inlet valves, 3 angles seat cut with a de-shrouding radius cut, stock exhaust but throat also machined to 85%. 3rd a GPZ1100 Uni-trac head, full porting, new guides, stock inlet valves but throat machined out to 86%, 3 angle seat cut . Exhaust ported, 32.50mm valve with throat also machined to 86% of valve diameter. All 3 heads tested on my Superflow 110 flowbench, not a definitive full test but just as a comparison test between the 3 cylinder heads to see the difference and how much they flow. All testing was at 10" pressure, 15°C temp in workshop and lift up to maximum lift for Uni trac cams 9.50mm

Been doing a few odd fiddly jobs the last couple of weeks . Broken exhaust studs on a Z1 cylinder head which had been butchered to the point the holes were too big for a helicoil repair. Head drilled and ally plugs made and fitted and drilled back to M6 using a GPZ exhaust clamp and some steel drilling guides. Also a GPZ Uni-trac head in for oversize valves and full porting. Also machined for centre cam chain assembly as head is going on a Z1000 turbo. And valve seat re-cut on the Z1 head after new guides fitted. Merry Christmas Zed fans.🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍺🍾. Roll on next summer. Engine build, Wossner 1075cc pistons, Web Cams 110 grind 0.390" lift, ported head with 37.50mm inlet valves, stock size exhaust valves, new guides, seat throats machined to 85% of new inlet valve diameter, 3 angle seat cut, Head skimmed to bring CR back up to 10.5 to 1 , that's because you have to cut the oversize inlet valves approx 1.5mm deeper into the cylinder head to get the valve to valve overlap clearance. Crankshaft has been lightened, polished and balanced, ( dont know who did this but a nice job) clutch basket spring replacement and also lightened. Engine vapour blasted and painted black Cerecote. Cams degreed to 110° lobe centres. All running on a set of Mikuni 34mm flatslides. Going in a Bimota KB1 KB1 Kawasaki

Starter clutch modification. When your starter clutch starts slipping the thing most do is buy the spring sprag rebuild kit, now this can fix the problem but if the big starter gear ground boss is worn with "flats" it will still keep slipping. A new gear wheel is over £400! This modified starter clutch has multiple sprags and the "boss" has been reground back perfectly round. A good modification for big capacity engines.
