Last week, the Netcel team got together for our Summer Connect Day☀️

With VALUE as our theme, we explored what it really means—from how humans perceive it, to how our clients define it, and how we can better deliver it as a team.

Highlights included:
🧠 A deep dive into the psychology of value
🤖 Real-life examples of how AI tools are boosting our team’s performance
👥 Insightful conversations on how we can enhance client experience

We wrapped up with department breakouts to turn learning into action - and of course, we ended the day with great food, drinks, and some valuable face-to-face catch-up in the sunshine!

With many of us embracing hybrid working, our quarterly events are such an important part of keeping our culture connected, collaborative, and thriving.

The holiday season can be particularly difficult for many, and last year, the Samaritans dedicated volunteers answered nearly 250,000 calls for help over Christmas. Offering 24/7 support, Samaritans ensure that no one has to face their struggles alone.

We're thrilled to welcome Mark to our Engineering team!

Mark joined Netcel in January this year as Solutions Architect. Mark is recognised for his deep Optimizely expertise as a Platinum Technology OMVP (Optimizely Most Valuable Professionals). And if that's not impressive enough, Mark is the brains behind two Optimizely AddOns which are used across multiple Optimizely customer solutions. Before diving into the agency realm, Mark honed 17 years of software delivery expertise, and created the UK's first integrated HR and Payroll web solution.

At Netcel, Mark excels in collaborating with clients to maximise their investments, aligning technology seamlessly with their business visions, and crafting solutions for even the most challenging integration scenarios on Optimizely.

Outside of work, Mark is passionate about Ceroc (Modern Jive) and in 13 years, went from a beginner - to Demoing with the teacher, and is now a DJ for Ceroc’s freestyle nights around Yorkshire! He's also an avid rollerskater, drawn into the sport through Roller Derby and Roller Discos.

Mark is not just a tech whiz but a true enthusiast in everything he does!

Sweet success! 🍰 Last week Netcel hosted an Easter-themed cake sale and raffle which raised an impressive £454 for our company charity Samaritans. Bringing our total fundraising efforts up to £8,062! 💚

A huge thank you to all the talented bakers at Netcel, whose delicious bakes made the event a resounding success. We’re also extremely grateful to all the generous individuals who contributed to our cause by purchasing cakes and participating in the raffle.

At Netcel, we've always prioritised employee wellbeing, and this year, we're taking it up a notch with our comprehensive well-being program. We kicked off the program with a motivational session led by Rachel Grimwood, which focused on resilience-building strategies and the importance of pausing to recalibrate our goals. Empowering our team to take control of their outcomes and thrive in the year ahead.

We introduced ‘The Hour of Power’, encouraging our team to take lunchtime walks – this not only promotes physical health but also enhances mental clarity and creativity. It's amazing what a breath of fresh air can do!

Of course, our Wellbeing Wednesdays and Stressbusters massages will continue, offering a breakfast buffet in the office every Wednesday and quarterly massage sessions to help the team melt away tension and promote relaxation.

At Netcel, wellbeing isn't just a buzzword; it's ingrained in our culture. We're committed to fostering a supportive environment where each member of our team can thrive personally and professionally. Here's to prioritising wellness and achieving greatness, one step at a time!

In our commitment to support Samaritans, we ran our annual charity Christmas cake sale and raffle last week, successfully raising an impressive £452 for this vital cause.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our talented bakers at Netcel, whose delicious bakes made the event a resounding success. We are also extremely grateful to all the generous individuals who contributed to our cause by purchasing cakes and participating in the raffle.

Congratulations to our 2023 raffle winners, Mark Fellows from Sherrards, who secured 1st prize – a £100 voucher of his choice, and to Daniel Brooks from FRP Advisory, who took 2nd prize, a luxurious chocolate bouquet.

Netcel had fantastic experience as gold sponsors of London last week – the day was packed full of Optimizely insights, speaker sessions, and networking. It was a great to catch up with some of our clients, the Optimizely team and exchange insights from digital professionals from all over the UK.

A highlight of the day was being named as the winners of the Customer Choice Partner of the Year Award - 2023 for the second year running! This accolade is extra special as it's based on the feedback and testimonials from our amazing clients, making the recognition significant and meaningful. We're incredibly proud to collaborate with and be recognised by such fantastic clients.

We also had the pleasure of hosting a panel discussion with our client Pets at Home. Chaired by Netcel’s Commercial Director Tom Denbigh, the panel included Pets at Home's Director of Development, Andy Todman, and Netcel's OMVPs Justin Masters (CTO) and Minesh Shah (Solutions Architect). Together, they delved into the vision and digital transformation journey to create the world's best pet care platform – with Optimizely’s .

It was back to school for some of the Netcel team last week for BIMA Digital Day! Netcel again had the pleasure of visiting Parmiter's School in Garston to share insights about what it is like to work in the digital industry - and to inspire the next generation of digital leaders.

Allyn, Pedro and Rebekah shared insight into life at Netcel before setting a challenge for the students - to work through the digital development process of creating a technical solution for Vue, one of the biggest entertainment providers in the UK and Ireland. The groups went through the discovery, design and delivery stages before sharing their project with the class, and the results were fantastic!

It was a pleasure to be part of Digital Day, sharing more about the digital world and inspiring the next generation into tech. A big thank you to BIMA (British Interactive Media Association) for creating this brilliant initiative.

We would like to give a warm welcome to our new Head of People & Culture, Helen!

Helen will provide strategic direction for the People Team and wider team in line with our vision and longer term ambitions. She is an established people leader and coach, with over 25 years of experience, gained predominantly in the Tech sector.

She is passionate about supporting people; from those just getting started in their career, right up to the Boardroom, and is committed to making sure 'People' have a seat at the table; that they have a voice!

Outside of work, Helen is a 'hands on' mum and nanny with the family, enjoying holidays together and walking the dogs, with the occasional glass of Rosé along the way.
