Constructing Dean Transport’s Modern Workshop

In 2009 Dean Transport was fortunate enough to be able to buy a plot of land with an aim to construct a State-of-the-art, Purpose-Built Workshop and Testing Facility. Despite numerous setbacks and planning issues, work finally commenced in 2019. Things were going great until Covid 19 struck and all work came to a halt again! Eventually everything started up again and the building opened on 18th January 2022. From that date all services offered were gradually brought over from our old site to the new Building. Tachograph calibrations were the last service to be put in place in January 2023.

In 2017, Dean Transport were asked to deliver a very unusual load. A huge statue of Nipper, the HMV mascot was delivered to the site of The Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes where he still sits to this day!

Transporting the Narrow-Gauge Engines

In 2011 Dean Transport was contacted by the volunteers at the Crossness Engines Trust to carry out a special job. They were planning to build a replica of the narrow gauge railway that used to operate in the old royal arsenal site and needed a haulier to pick up and deliver a Steam Engine from the Gunpowder Mill at Waltham Abbey and bring it back to Thamesmead. “Enfield” made the journey first. A few years later in 2018 we were asked to carry out a similar job. “Bazellgete” later joined it.

Dean Transport’s Early Days

In the early 1970s Bill Dean ran a few lorries that then grew into a small fleet. These trucks were all looked after in house. In 1994 we became a limited company, moving to bigger premises with a larger workshop. We started offering outside repairs as a means of addition income. This side of the business grew allowing us to open an MOT test station for cars and vans in 1996. The next upgrade came in 2012 when the HGV MOT test lanes opened up. That grew and grew until we moved into our current purpose built workshop in 2022.
