A man has been arrested after police seized an estimated £4 million in cash and a kilo of co***ne following a proactive policing operation in Catford.
Officers on patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area at around 6.30pm last night (July 29).

A search of the car led to the discovery of a shopping bag containing around £35,000 in cash.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing criminal property and remains in police custody.
A further search of a property linked to the man uncovered approximately £4 million in cash hidden in bags across two bedrooms, along with 1kg of co***ne.
Commander Paul Brogden, from the Met’s Specialist Crime unit, said: “This is one of the largest cash seizures we’ve seen and shows the impact that proactive local policing can have in tackling serious and organised crime.

“The arrest highlights the vital role stop and search, including stopping suspect vehicles, can play in helping officers to identify criminal activity

We didn’t Vote for You Andy Burnham

Andy Burnham is in favour of scrapping Stamp Duty Land Tax & Council Tax and replacing it with an annual property tax.

This means that instead of paying Stamp Duty when buying a property and tenants paying the Council Tax, homeowners and investors will need to pay an amount based on the value of the property every year instead.

A previous suggestion has been 0.48% of the property value per year for homeowners and 0.96% for rental properties and second homes.

For example:
The owner of a £150,000 property will pay £720 per year property tax.
An investor/landlord on the same £150,000 property would be paying £1,440 per year.

The higher value the property, the more you pay in tax.

Do you think this would be an improvement?

Dulwich road closed due to burst pipe – after 11 hours of flooding
Park Hall Road is currently expected to remain closed for repairs until this Saturday

A road was closed at the weekend 11 hours after a burst pipe flooded a junction in Dulwich,
Traffic was diverted from Park Hall Road at 9.30pm after a water main – seven inches in diameter was punctured outside the Gipsy Hill Telephone Exchange.
A member of the repair crew from Thames Water said the burst took place at approximately 10am.
The water leaked through cracks in the kerb on each side of the vehicle entrance to the exchange and left a ten-metre stretch of the road three inches underwater, which disrupted traffic.
The repair crew said the burst was likely caused either by ground movement or weathering over time.
One worker added: “It’s the old Victorian pipes.”

The incident comes nine months after a burst caused evacuations due to fears of roads collapsing in Bermondsey and fourteen months after a burst in Dulwich left households in Sydenham and Crystal Palace without running water for three days.
London’s pipes burst 36,000 times from 2011 to 2018, which the then head of networks at Thames Water attributed in part to the city’s clay soil eroding the pipes.
Park Hall Road is currently expected to remain closed for repairs until this Saturday.

The absolute audacity of these thieves in Central London! Watch how quickly these two (or maybe three) men work together to sn**ch suitcases from an open boot outside Kings Cross station. The victims are literally getting into the car mere feet away and don’t notice a thing. It’s absolutely wild how comfortable thieves have become operating in plain sight

🚨 This is NOT okay. Where’s the social care ? That loves to take child away from working parents and this situation it’s out of control they don’t do nothing

A child being given a balloon filled with nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”), especially with an adult’s involvement, raises serious concerns about safety and responsibility.

What may seem like harmless fun can carry real risks—particularly for children. Nitrous oxide can lead to oxygen deprivation, vitamin B12 deficiency, nerve damage, and neurological issues. In some cases, the consequences can be long-term or even life-threatening.

Children rely on adults to protect them, not expose them to harm. Situations like this should not be ignored.

We need greater awareness, accountability, and action to ensure children are kept safe. If you agree, speak up.
