A look behind the scenes of our latest commercial EV charger installation at Auto Capital.
Before any chargers go in, we look at the existing electrical infrastructure and plan the installation around the requirements of the site. From there, our team can get to work on the electrical installation and charging equipment.
Commercial EV charging is about much more than the charger you see on the wall — it’s the infrastructure behind it that makes the whole system work.

A closer look at one of the first areas we completed at Maxshelf.
Their new sales space has been fully fitted with power and data for four bays of desks, alongside lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems and a new consumer unit.
For the meeting rooms, HDMI connections were even routed through the floor into floor boxes, allowing presentations to connect directly to the screens without visible cables. The complete installation has now been tested and verified.
The result is a clean, practical electrical setup designed around how the space is actually used.

Not everything on a project goes exactly to the original plan.
Halfway through our work at Maxshelf, their old office was converted into a new sales area, which meant adapting the electrical installation along with it.
We relocated the consumer unit and rewired almost the entire section, installing new lighting, data and control points, as well as two fire alarm systems connected to work together as one.
It was an unexpected addition to the project, but a good example of how commercial electrical work often needs to adapt as the space develops.

Good electrical work isn’t always about adding something new — sometimes it means putting an existing installation right.
At Maxshelf, we replaced an incorrectly fitted consumer unit and upgraded the circuits with RCBO protection, alongside installing a completely new fire alarm system with beam detection units.
Each detector has its own controller at ground level, making future checks much easier without needing to access the units at height.
Another important part of the Maxshelf project complete.

Sometimes the existing electrical setup simply isn’t enough for the scale of the premises.
At Maxshelf , the existing distribution panel couldn’t provide the capacity they needed, so we installed a larger main distribution panel and reorganised the existing setup.
The new panel now supplies five distribution boards across the premises, giving the site the electrical infrastructure it needs for an operation of this scale.
From large commercial projects and warehouse rewires to domestic electrical work, our experienced team can handle installations of all sizes.

After two and a half months of work, our project at Maxshelf is officially complete.
This was a major electrical upgrade, including a new 300 amp supply, main distribution panel, fire alarm system, new office electrics and a completely new sales area.
With Maxshelf operating throughout the project, our team worked around their schedule — including afternoon and night shifts — to keep disruption to their day-to-day business to a minimum.
A challenging project, but a great one to see completed.
