Starting out in agriculture? π
Here's what you need to know about driving a tractor on the road. π
If you're learning to drive a tractor and don't yet have a Category B (car) licence, you'll need to pass a Category F tractor test before you can take it on public roads.
During the test, an examiner will make sure that you have the skills and knowledge to drive safely, so it's worth understanding what can sometimes go wrong and how to avoid it.
Some key things to get right:
β
Always check all around you before moving off, including looking at your mirrors and blind spots. Only go when you're certain it's safe
β
When reversing, keep things slow, steady and controlled
β
Keep looking around when reversing and be ready to stop if anything changes
β
Check your mirrors early when slowing down or stopping and make sure your signals are clear and timely
β
At junctions, look both ways carefully and take your time to judge the traffic properly
Getting these things right won't just help you pass, they'll keep you and everyone around you safer every day on the road.
