As a driving instructor, I’m going to be 100% open and transparent.

Every week I receive messages from learners asking if I can fit them in a week, two weeks, or even a month before their driving test.

The answer isn’t “no” because I don’t want to help.

The answer is NO because I can’t honestly tell someone they’re ready for one of the biggest assessments of their life without first getting to know them behind the wheel.

Driving instructors don’t hire out cars for test day.

We take responsibility for the person sitting in the driver’s seat.

If I say you’re ready, my reputation is on the line, my professional standards are on the line, and, most importantly, your safety and the safety of every other road user is on the line.

There simply aren’t enough hours in the day for us to train everyone who leaves it until the last minute. We can only give our full attention to the learners we’re already committed to and help them become safe, confident drivers.

So if an instructor says they can’t take you to your test, please don’t see it as rejection.

See it for what it really is…

Unfortunately, I’ve seen 7 cyclists ride through red lights over the last 3 days.
A red light means STOP for everyone. It doesn’t matter whether you’re driving a car, riding a motorcycle, cycling, or driving a lorry—the rules are the same for all road users.
Traffic lights are there to protect everyone. Please stop at red lights, be patient, and help keep our roads safe.
Stay safe. Respect the rules. Protect each other.
