🚗🔧 2019 MAZDA CX-3 – LOSS OF GEAR SELECTION 🔧🚗

This 2019 Mazda CX-3 was recovered into us after losing gear selection.

🔍 Our diagnosis: On inspection, we found excessive movement at the gearstick. Further investigation at the gearbox turret confirmed that the gear selector cable had completely snapped, preventing normal gear selection.

✅ Replacement gear cables were ordered directly from the dealer and have now arrived, ready to be fitted.

Another fault accurately diagnosed, with the replacement parts ready to get the repair underway! 👨‍🔧

🚗 LOSS OF DRIVE? WE FOUND THE CULPRIT! 🔧

This 2013 Fiat 500L was recovered into us after suffering a complete loss of drive.

🔍 Our diagnosis confirmed a clutch fault, meaning the gearbox had to come out to investigate further.

💥 Once removed, we found the damage:
🔥 Clutch plate completely burnt out
⚠️ Cracked clutch pressure plate

✅ We fitted a new 3-piece clutch kit, rebuilt everything and got the vehicle back on the road and returned to its owner!

💥 VW Crafter Turbo Failure!

This 2022 Crafter came in on recovery after cutting out and refusing to start. Our investigations revealed a catastrophic turbo failure! 😳

🔧 Snapped turbo shaft
🔧 Destroyed impeller blades
🔧 Oil leaking from the turbo

The repair requires a replacement turbo, new oil lines and seals, fresh oil and filter, plus intake system cleaning.

It’s been non-stop in the garage this week, so here’s a snapshot of just some of the vehicles that have come through the door! 👇

🔹 Skoda Fabia – Timing belt & water pump replacement
🔹 Renault Trafic – Class 4 MOT
🔹 Peugeot Expert – Both rear shock absorbers replaced
🔹 Renault Captur – MOT after we correctly diagnosed and repaired an emissions fault and EML issue that a previous garage couldn’t get to the bottom of! 💪

🚨 THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A WET BELT STARTS TO BREAK DOWN! 😳🔧

Sump removed from a Ford Transit, and look what’s hiding inside… 👀👇

💥 The sump is full of broken-up timing belt debris, with pieces sitting dangerously close to being sucked into the oil pump pick-up strainer.

⚠️ If that strainer becomes blocked, oil flow can be restricted, oil pressure can drop, and serious engine damage could follow!

This is exactly why wet belt maintenance is so important. The belt might be hidden away inside the engine, but the damage it causes can be anything but hidden! 😬

✅ Don’t wait for the warning lights to come on. Preventative maintenance could save you from a very expensive engine repair.

🚨 ENGINE OUT! WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE? 🔧💥

This 2018 Peugeot 5008 1.6 Diesel is in the workshop after the timing belt was found with teeth stripped. 😬

The engine has now been removed for further investigation to get to the bottom of what’s gone wrong and assess any damage.

🔍 Is the timing belt the cause of the failure… or is something else to blame? 👀

We’re digging deeper to find the answers, assess the damage and establish the options for the customer.

It’s been one of those weeks where we’ve barely had time to keep up with the socials! 😅 Here’s just a small snippet of what’s been through the workshop 👇

🚐 2022 Volkswagen Crafters – Timing belts & water pumps, along with additional faults including EML, airbag faults and brake pad warnings.

🚙 Land Rover Discovery Sport – Full service + FREE MOT as part of our current offer! 🔥

🚗 Hyundai Ioniq – Replacement parking sensor following diagnosis last month. System now operating as it should. ✅

🐴 Mercedes Sprinter Horsebox – Class 7 MOT carried out.

💥 THE TIMING BELT SNAPPED WHILE WE WERE REMOVING IT!

This 2022 VW Crafter has covered 120,000 miles and came in for a preventative timing belt & water pump replacement.

The reason? One of the other Crafters in the same fleet had suffered a timing belt failure at 130,000 miles.

So, while removing the old belt from this one, I released the tension and started taking the belt off…

Then SNAP! 💥

The old timing belt broke in my hands during removal.

It hadn’t failed while the van was running — but seeing it break during removal certainly makes you wonder how much longer it would have lasted under normal engine operation. 😳

120,000 miles on the clock… just 10,000 miles before the mileage where another fleet Crafter had already suffered a failure.

A timely reminder that replacing a timing belt before it fails can save a seriously expensive engine repair. 🔧💷
