🚗🔧 ANOTHER BUSY FEW DAYS IN THE WORKSHOP! 🔧🚗

Another busy few days here at the workshop, with a good mix of servicing, diagnostics, MOTs and investigations. Here’s a few of the jobs that have been through the doors 👇

🔵 Volvo XC60 – In for a full service and a FREE MOT as part of our current promotion! ✅

🔧 Fiat Talento – Recovered into us following an electrical malfunction which caused the vehicle to cut out and become a non-start. Investigation is currently underway to find the root cause of the issue.

🚘 Renault Megane – In for a vehicle health check and 2-wheel alignment adjustment to get everything sitting correctly.

🔧 BMW 123d – Customer dropped the vehicle in after a low oil warning appeared on the dash. Having recently purchased the car, they wanted some peace of mind, so we carried out an investigation for a possible oil leak. Thankfully, no oil leaks were found. The customer opted for an oil and filter service to ensure the vehicle has the correct oil and level.

⚠️ Peugeot 3008 – Brought in with an engine malfunction warning. We found the engine oil level below the minimum mark. The wet belt had previously been replaced elsewhere, but remnants of the old belt were found blocking the VVT solenoids. We cleaned the solenoids, topped up the oil and carried out an extended road test, with no further faults returning. 👍

✅ Toyota Aygo – Yearly MOT carried out and passed. Ready to get back on the road!

✅ Mercedes X-Class – Yearly MOT carried out and passed. Good to go! 💪

🔧🔥 ANOTHER BUSY DAY IN THE GARAGE! 🔥🔧

Another busy day at Livingston Auto Centre — here’s a few of the jobs keeping us on our toes 👇

🔵 BMW 5 Series
Air suspension diagnosed with a weak compressor. New compressor & relay fitted, suspension calibrated and ready to return to its customer! 👍

🚖 Renault Trafic
Both front strut top mounts replaced following a safety inspection. This one will soon be back on the road as a taxi!

⚠️ Ford Connect
Recovered in after being driven with no oil. We found the oil filter had been replaced and double sealed, causing a significant oil leak.

The turbo is passing oil and is tight to rotate, most likely due to oil starvation. We’ve also found a coolant leak from the water pump.

The customer has been made aware of the potential engine damage that may have occurred, and we’re now awaiting their decision on how to proceed.

✅ Vauxhall Vivaro
In with us for a Class 7 MOT.

🔧 Alfa Giulietta
Recovered into us a couple of weeks ago with several faults. Repairs are now underway, including an oil cooler replacement, gear selector replacement and further checks into the insecure starter motor power cable.

💥 Vauxhall Combo
Recovered in with a suspected turbo failure. After removing the lower intercooler pipe and turbo intake pipe, we found excessive amounts of oil passing through the turbo.

The turbine bearing has failed, with both the exhaust and intake systems full of oil. 😳

Another busy day, another mix of diagnostics, repairs, MOTs and some serious mechanical failures!

🚨 TURBO FAILURE FOUND! 🚨

This 2021 Vauxhall Combo was recovered into us with a suspected turbo fault — but the symptoms pointed towards something more serious.

The customer told us that before the vehicle broke down and wouldn’t start, the engine had started revving up by itself. ⚠️

We made the customer aware of the potential for engine damage due to the symptoms reported.

🔧 Our initial investigation quickly revealed:

➡️ Lower intercooler pipe removed — intercooler full of oil
➡️ Turbo intake pipe removed — turbo full of oil
➡️ Turbo turbine bearing found to have completely collapsed

At this stage, the turbo failure is clear, but with the engine previously revving by itself and oil present throughout the intake system, potential engine damage cannot be ruled out.

Further investigation will be required before we know the full extent of the damage.

Another reminder that when a vehicle starts behaving unexpectedly, stop driving it and get it properly diagnosed. ⚠️

🚗🔧 ANOTHER GREAT START TO THE WEEK! 🔧🚗

Here’s a look at some of the jobs that have been through the workshop today 👇

🏕️ Peugeot Motorhome
In for its MOT. A lovely, low-mileage example that flew through with no issues! ✅ Ready for plenty more adventures. 🌍

🔧 Audi A6
In with an air suspension fault caused by faulty level sensors. The rear subframe was dropped to allow access, with the sensors replaced and the system back working correctly.

🚙 Nissan Juke
In for its first ever MOT — and it sailed through! 🎉 Clearly a very well-maintained example. 👌

🏕️ Vauxhall Vivaro Camper Van
Brought in with a fuel leak when the tank was full. After a recent diesel heater installation elsewhere, we found the in-tank pump seal wasn’t seated correctly and had been damaged. A new seal was fitted, the tank refitted and it’s now ready for more adventures! 🌄

🚘 Volkswagen Scirocco
Came in with an OSR indicator fault and for its MOT. We traced and repaired the wiring fault, replaced two front tyres, drained excess oil from the engine and completed the MOT. ✅

Defender #2 of 2 in for a clutch replacement due to a noisy release bearing. New clutch fitted and this one is now ready for collection! ✅

🛠️ Vauxhall Movano
In with us for its MOT.

🚐 Citroën Relay
Recovered into us with a suspected timing issue and non-start fault. After investigation, we’ve been unable to replicate the fault. The van started with a boost and is now running absolutely fine. Customer has been advised to monitor it closely. 👀

🚚 Ford Transit Luton
In for its MOT.

⛽ Vauxhall Vivaro
Brought in with a fuel leak. We’re currently dropping the fuel tank to get to the source of the leak and identify exactly where the fuel is escaping from.

🚨🔧 CLUTCH TROUBLE? DON’T IGNORE THE NOISE! 🔧🚨

Another Land Rover Defender through the workshop — this time with a noisy clutch release bearing.

With the gearbox removed, we carried out a full 3-piece clutch kit replacement, replacing the clutch, pressure plate and release bearing. ✅

A noisy release bearing might start as just an annoying sound… but leaving it can lead to bigger and more expensive problems down the line. 💷

Another job diagnosed, repaired and back on the road! 🚙💨

🚨 WET BELTS: DON’T IGNORE WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A FAILURE! 🚨

Another Ford Transit in the workshop — and a perfect example of why wet belt replacement and proper investigation after an oil system-related failure are absolutely critical. 🔧

The photos tell the story…

🛢️ Oil pump strainer completely packed with wet belt debris
⚙️ A piece of the vacuum pump keyway found sitting in the engine oil sump

When a wet belt starts to deteriorate, the debris doesn’t simply disappear. It can circulate through the engine oil system, potentially restricting the oil pickup and causing serious engine damage.

And when a vacuum pump fails, it’s not enough to simply replace the failed component and send the vehicle back out the door. The engine needs to be properly investigated for secondary damage and contamination.

This is exactly why we always look beyond the obvious fault. 👀

⚠️ Wet belt debris + restricted oil pickup = potential engine disaster.

If your Ford Transit is approaching its wet belt replacement interval — don’t wait for it to fail.

Prevention is always cheaper than an engine. 💥

🔧 ANOTHER BUSY DAY IN THE WORKSHOP! 🚗💨

Here’s just a few of the jobs that have come through the doors today 👇

🔵 Audi A7
Back in with an “Oil Overfilled” message showing on the dash. After draining the engine oil, we found it was holding at least 1 litre too much! 😳

The likely cause? Oil dilution from repeated DPF regenerations, where diesel can make its way into the engine oil and increase the oil level.

We carried out an oil & filter service, checked everything over and got it safely back to the customer. ✅

🟢 Jaguar F-Pace
Recovered into us with a power steering fault. Our checks have found the steering rack motor is cracked, along with a battery showing poor health.

Customer is now considering the repair options. 🔍

🔵 Volvo V90
In for its MOT — PASSED! ✅
Back on the road and back to the customer.

🟢 Vauxhall Movano
Another MOT — PASSED! ✅
Checked, tested and handed back ready to go.

It’s been a busy one already at Bosch Car Service Livingston! Here’s just a few of the jobs that have come through the workshop today 👇

🚘 Volkswagen Passat
In for its MOT after having a full service and all previous service advisories carried out a couple of months ago. ✅
MOT PASSED and back to the customer!

🚐 Ford Transit Luton
In for an MOT and rough idle issue. During our checks, we found several faults relating to the wet belt. The customer has authorised the repairs and we’re getting stuck into it. 🔧
The rough idle is still under investigation, but our diagnostics are currently pointing towards a possible fuel injector fault. 👀

🟢 2x Land Rover Defenders
Both arrived with a noisy clutch release bearing.
Both require a complete 3-piece clutch replacement — and the first one is already underway! 💪🔧

🚗 Ford Fiesta
Recovered into us with a suspected radiator fault. Our investigation has already uncovered a hole in the coolant housing, along with other issues including a swollen expansion tank. ⚠️
Further investigation required to establish the full extent of the cooling system problems.

🚗🔧 ANOTHER BUSY COUPLE OF DAYS AT BOSCH CAR SERVICE LIVINGSTON! 🔧🚗

The workshop has been full again, with everything from MOTs and servicing to breakdowns and major repairs. Here’s just a few of the jobs keeping us busy 👇

🔴 Audi A7
Recovered to us with an alternator fault. New alternator fitted and now awaiting coding to the vehicle. ⚡🔧

🟢 Renault Master Cherry Picker
In for its MOT — PASSED! ✅

🔵 Volkswagen Crafter
Recovered to us following a timing belt failure. We’ve assessed the vehicle and are now awaiting the customer’s decision on the repairs.

🟡 Mercedes Vito
Brought in with a suspension fault. We found a broken NSF coil spring and failed shock absorber spring retainer, along with 2 tyres requiring replacement and wheel alignment.

All repairs completed and the Vito is now safely back on the road! ✅

⚫ Mercedes C-Class
In for a full service and gearbox service. Both carried out and the vehicle returned to its customer. 🔧

🟠 Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Recovered to us after the customer had just purchased the vehicle — unfortunately, it had already broken down! 😬

On inspection, we found no oil in the engine, with clear signs of excessive oil loss, along with a gear selector fault. Further investigation is now underway to establish exactly what has happened. 🔧
