New rules that will affect you
From 31 March 2026: limit on test booking changes
You’ll be able to make only 2 changes to your test booking from 31 March 2026.
This includes:
changing or swapping your test date or time
moving your test to a different centre
From 12 May 2026: only you can book and manage your test
Only you can book, change or cancel your driving test.
From 12 May 2026 it will be against the law for anyone else to do this for you, including driving instructors and cancellation-finding services. This is still subject to approval from Parliament.
When you sign in to book or manage your driving test, you’ll need to:
confirm that you’re the person taking the test
agree to a new set of terms and conditions
From 9 June 2026: test centre moves will be limited
You’ll be able to move your test only to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where your test is currently booked from 9 June 2026.
For example you booked at Worthing test centre, the 3 nearest centres you will be able to move your test to are:
Chichester
Burgess Hill
Crawley
The 3 nearest test centres for your booking may change in future. From 9 June 2026, the service to change your driving test appointment will show your available options.
