Sundays at the workshop hit differently!

Tomas, one of the local Amazon delivery drivers, booked a ramp today to knock out some fresh oil, brakes, and tie rods. These guys put serious miles on the clock, so having a place to sort the car yourself on a Sunday saves both time and hard-earned cash – meaning the motor is ready to earn again first thing Monday morning.

Right next to him, Allan dropped by with his stunning XJR (X300) for a quick underbody check. First time seeing a supercharged straight-six in person – absolute peak Jaguar era and definitely one of my all-time favourites.

Whether it's your daily workhorse keeping you on the road or a weekend modern classic, having the right space and a proper lift makes all the difference.

Ramps and tools ready for your next job – drop us a message to book your slot!

Surprise visit at the workshop today, and what an absolute legend rolled through the doors!

A freshly picked-up as a new project Subaru Impreza P1,pure rally heritage and a serious collector's piece. We threw it straight onto the lift for a quick post-purchase health check to see how clean she really is underneath.

The verdict? Looking sharp, but we’ve already mapped out a proper to-do list for the next session at Hoodlifters. Keeping icons like this running sweet is exactly what we’re here for.

Got yourself a new project or just picked up a weekend toy? Book a ramp, bring it in, and check it out properly from underneath.

German Saturday in full swing at Hoodlifters!

Both ramps busy and the energy is unmatched today. On one side, this clean Audi A6 is getting a full set of fresh performance brakes dialed in. Right next to it, an Audi TT in the middle of a fresh body kit install (trust me, final shots incoming once she’s fully fitted).

Good tunes on the speakers, fresh coffee, cold 0.0% beers on the side, and mates just cracking on with their own builds without anyone rushing them.

No drive-thru stress, no someone else touching your pride and joy. Just proper tools, proper space, and the right company. That’s literally what Hoodlifters was built for.

Got a job lined up for your ride? Drop us a DM or book your bay online. See you on the ramp!

Polo Project Update: Slow progress is still progress!

Things have been moving slowly around the shop lately, but the direction is always forward. The delivery guy finally dropped off the package I’ve been waiting for, so the cat’s out of the bag: it’s time to talk suspension.

I’ve wanted to do this for ages, and this little saloon is the perfect excuse. We’re going on air!

Off-the-shelf air ride kits for these cars are either nonexistent or priced completely out of touch with reality. The solution? Build it from scratch. I've piecing everything together using universal components ,a healthy mix of custom fabrication, creative engineering, and plenty of measuring twice before cutting once. It’s the harder route, but easily the most rewarding.

Meanwhile, the paint correction is almost wrapped up, underbody protection is getting ticked off, and the interior is already waiting patiently in line. Light at the end of the tunnel is definitely getting closer.

As you know, while Hoodlifters is mostly a DIY space, I often take on servicing and minor repairs for folks who don't quite feel comfortable getting hands-on with their own toys.
I usually work on a lot of classic cars, but this is the first time I've had the pleasure of diving into such a gem! First time working on an AE86, and I can say the build quality, simplicity, and amazing engineering are incredible.
It does need a little extra love, though! ❤️ I'm going through everything, chasing down annoying little bugs, and checking brakes, wiring, and the carburetors before she goes into winter storage. This classic is going to be perfect for the season ahead!

What a Sunday at Hoodlifters!

Massive thanks to everyone from RMS Motoring for stopping by yesterday. The weather definitely tried to play against us, but keeping it inside the workshop turned out to be the best move possible, dry, warm, and surrounded by proper metal.
Honestly, the turnout blew me away. I knew you guys had taste, but the sheer variety and quality of the cars parked up was unreal.

From the first chat, it was obvious every single person who walked through the door lives and breathes cars. Real petrolheads through and through, with great stories and zero attitude.
Hosting you lot was an absolute pleasure. Hope you enjoyed the space, the coffee, and the banter as much as I did.

Doors are always open for you guys, see you on the next one! 🔧☕

Last week at Hoodlifters was a perfect split between British big cats and high-revving Japanese steel! 🇬🇧🇯🇵
We had a double dose of Jaguars hitting the ramps.
David and his son brought in their XK for a solid father-son session on the spanners, sorting out an oil service and getting the car fully prepped for its MOT.

Shortly after, Ben dropped by to check out the setup and get his XKR up on the lift. Seeing your car from the underside for the first time is always a moment of truth, he went home with a comprehensive to-do list for his next booking.

Meanwhile, Rudi was back in the bay with his newest track weapon: a Civic Type R. He didn’t mess around, fitting a full stainless exhaust system alongside an oversized manifold. To tie it all together, he fitted in a new ECU with switchable maps and a popcorn limiter. That thing is going to sound absolutely unhinged. 🍿🔥
Whether you're just doing some routine MOT prep or building a weekend track car, we’ve got the tools and the space to make it happen.

Finally, the parts for the '91 Polo Saloon project have landed, and the engine is officially running! 🚗💨 I won't lie, I had a bit of a moment ,mixed up some wiring and had to spend a while hunting down my own mistake. Happens to the best of us when we're in the zone, right? 😅

Once I had it purring, I jumped straight into building a custom stainless steel exhaust. Keeping true to the low-budget spirit of this build, I repurposed a couple of second-hand boxes I recently got my hands on. It was the perfect time to put them to good use, and honestly, the setup turned out sweet—exactly how I envisioned it.

Next on the hit list: bodywork and suspension. The body is mostly cosmetic stuff, so I’ll be chipping away at that in the background. As for the stance... the suspension parts are ordered and on their way from China. The next big update will drop when they arrive, and let's just say we are planning something a bit creative with this one! 👀🔧

Check out the video below to see the progress. Who else is wrestling with wiring or exhaust fabrication this week? 👇

Another solid week in the bays at Hoodlifters!

Matthew brought in his new winter project a Nissan 350Z. He’s going to be a regular fixture around here over the next few months, putting in the graft to get the chassis and engine dialled in perfectly for next season.

Simon and his mate tackled plumbing and wiring a diesel heater into their camper. Let's just say the initial prime and first startup gave us a massive smoke show in the workshop! 😂 Thankfully it's all running sweet now.

Sebastian also swung by to knock out a fresh oil service on his Volvo T6 Polestar. Always good to see proper preventative maintenance keeping these Swedish powerhouses happy.

We had a few other lads on the lifts getting work done too, but I was too caught up and completely forgot to snap some photos of their builds. My bad, I'll do better next week!

Oh, and we also hosted a really cool photoshoot at the shop with a lovely model... but I’m keeping the results under wraps for now. Watch this space, more on that dropping soon! 👀📸

Got a winter project of your own that needs some lift time? Drop a message and get it booked in.
