Rookie Racing is a karting academy offering tuition to new drivers and their families looking to get into karting. What class should my child race in?

Want to be a Racing Driver, Start Karting with Rookie Racing. Joining the great sport of kart racing can be very overwhelming. There are probably so many questions going through your head? Do I need to buy a kart now? What kart shall I buy? What about training and licencing? Here at Rookie Racing we want to make your journey into karting as smooth and simple as possible. We can offer a fully exper

ienced and non-biased advisory service on all aspects of starting-up. You’ll receive help on choosing the right class, kart, engine and equipment. To start with, you can hire equipment from us before you buy. First things first, we’ll make sure you and your child know all the safety aspects of karting, along with any rules and regulations. Once your set up, the fun really begins. Our team will coach your child in order for them to gain their ARKS license and get them race-ready. The first race meeting can be a daunting experience, but rest assured we will be there to guide and encourage your child through every stage of the process; ensuring they are on the grid on-time, complying with all rules and regulations and all karts and suits are in full working order. So you’re all set up, you’ve had your first race and loving your time with the Rookie Racing team. Contrary to popular belief, kart racing is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports you can partake. Your mind and body must be perfectly in-sync, making quick decisions in order to perform an optimum drive. This, like so many other things in life, comes with hard work, dedication and training. The Rookie Racing Training Academy work with you to constantly refine and perfect your technique, month after month, race after race. At our monthly academy days we’ll equip you with the tools you need, get you out onto the track and work on anything you’re unsure of. We also formulate fitness regimes for you to carry out at home, in between race and academy days.

Today is a proud day for everyone involved with R1 Racing and Rookie Racing.
As the Rotax British Kart Championship gets underway, nine drivers line up on the grid in the brand-new Rotax E10 Electric Cadet category, a class that we have been honoured to help launch alongside Rotax 🤝

What you see today is the result of months of planning, testing, preparation and belief from drivers, families and the many people working behind the scenes to bring this exciting new chapter of karting to life. 📖

From introducing complete beginners through the Rookie Academy, to supporting drivers on the national stage with R1 Racing, creating clear pathways in karting has always been at the heart of what we do. To see nine E10 drivers taking their place on the grid at the British Championship is something we're incredibly proud of. ⚡️

A huge thank you to Rotax for placing their trust in us to help deliver this programme, and to Motorsport UK for their support and guidance as the category takes its first steps onto the national stage. 🙏

Following previous positive feedback, we’re bringing the format back for another night focused purely on helping young drivers improve, gain confidence, and maximise their track time.

With small groups, structured sessions, and personal feedback after every run, the goal is simple: more laps, more learning, and real progress throughout the evening. 💪
