Monday 31st August 2026
With our sincere thanks to the Shenstone & District Car Club for their continued support, we are counting the days to our return to Curborough Sprint Course – on Monday 31st August 2026! This will be our seventh consecutive year, promising yet another fantastic day of motorsport entertainment.

Spectator admission is payable on the day (cash or card): £10 per adult, with free entry for children under 16. Members of Shenstone & District Car Club are also entitled to free entry on presentation of a valid membership card- but it would be nice to donate!!
The Sprinters Rest Cafe will be open for refreshments.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, last year we raised over £16,500 for charity. This year, we are aiming even higher and hope to surpass that total.

Access To Curborough- Video Update.
A new recording of the journey from A38 to Curborough Sprint Course has now been published on the website.

We now have our new entrance off Wood End Lane and here is a video showing you what it looks like. The new road going past our entrance is a new road to Lichfield joining Watery Lane just before the railway bridge. This video was taken 9th August 2026

The 2026 Curborough Sprint Championship

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 9

The August MCMRC round of the Championship, had a good turnout, and a good varied entry with the Austin 7 club in attendance. SDCC President Jeremy Bouckley volunteered to commentate with his usual gusto.
With the Club running the Northern Speed event classes, some classes were split into saloons and Sports car but hopefully that has been sorted out in our results!
The standard car classes kicked off the event, with Sa Junior class win going to Will Horton’s Smart Roadster, from Jessica Harris in the Suzuki Swift.
The main Sa class win went to Richard Banks from John Denman in an MGZR one, two, with Stacey Harris 3 rd in the Swift.
Class Sb saw a close win for Glyn Butlin from co driver Jenson Butlin in the C2VTS by less than 0.2sec.
The Sc win went to Paul Glendenning in his Clio Sport.
In the 2.0L Road car class, Matt Dooner was pipped for the win by Nigel Trundle, both in MX5’s.
Dave Atkinson in the Yaris GR took the win in 1c by 0.25sec, from the Cayman of Lee Bradford. Ian Poole double drove the Cayman to 3 rd with Anthony Ashcroft in his Mini Cooper S in 4th.
In the small Mod Prods, Class 3a, the win went to Warwick Barber, from David Spaul, with Alan Henley and Richard Raybould 3 rd and 4 th respectively, all four Mini mounted.
In the upto 2.0L mod prods, Ian Carvell was literally in a class of his own in the Scirocco – smashing the two lap record!
Large capacity Mod Prods, 3C, had a win for Steve Jackson in the 911, from Stuart Hadley in the supercharged MX5, with Andrew Ward in his MX5 turbo version in third.
The 3 car single seater class, all Jedi’s, went to Mike Hull from Jan Snape in his second outing this year, with Jack Snape 3 rd .
Mike Hull also claimed FTD with a 53.91 second run.
The BMMC event entries are still open, and filling up, having been combined with the Lotus 7 club event
on the Sunday this year following last year’s cancellation of the event, so don’t miss out if you need an
entry to close the class or overall gap!
The Championship sends its best wishes to Chris the Time Team timekeeper who was taken ill at the end of the meeting and had to be driven home.
The Championship top 6 will now be scanning the result sheet on the website for anyone coming up on their shoulder with only six rounds contested, as we now head to the penultimate round.

The weekend of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August 2026- Reliant scimitar & Sabre Owners Club will be organising MSUK Sprints, with Saturday being the 2 Lap course and Sunday the Figure of 8 Course.

Practice usually commences around 9am with competitive runs to follow.

The Sprinters Rest Cafe will be open for refreshments.

PLEASE NOTE:
There will be a fee of £12 per person on the gate for spectator entry both days (SDCC Members free on production of a valid member/guest card)

No dogs are allowed on site (unless assistance dogs)

It's lights out and away we go for today's Sprint as part of the Curborough Championship sponsored by Optimal Graphics and Paul Green Jewelers. The double lap hosted by Mid-Cheshire MRC has a grid packed full of exciting cars ready to entertain you. Entry is free to spectators and the Sprinters Rest Cafe is open to serve delicious food and drink.

The 2026 Curborough Sprint Championship

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 8
The second MGCC event of the year, had a full entry. And the heatwave continued , meaning those of us that remember it will have to stop going on about 1976 now!
The standard car classes kicked off the event with the junior class going to Will Horton in the Smart Roadster, from Ethan West’s Matiz. In the main Sa Richard Banks just pipped John Denman in their MGZR scrap.
Class Sb saw a win for Jenson Butlin from co driver Glyn Butlin in the C2VTS, and the upto 2.0L
Sc win went to Paul Glendenning in the Clio Sport.
The small capacity road going Class 1a had a close win for Steve Barrow in the Eco boost Fiesta, from the Mini of Graham Harvey by 0.4sec.
With Mike Gardiner’s Clio having a big off in practice in 1b, the MX5 of Matt Dooner capitalised and took the win from the Fiat 500 Abarth of Alex Bold.
Lee Bradford’s Porsche Cayman claimed the win from Anthony Ashcroft’s BMW Mini CooperS in Class 1c, with Ian Poole co driving the Cayman to 3rd. Liam Meredith took 4th in the BMW Z4, just pipping Ivor Williams in his Yaris GR who took 5th .
David Whiteley broke the 2L Class record in his Lotus Elise to get a maximum score.
A good 3A entry just went to the Nova of Tom Bishop from the Minis of Warwick Barber, Alan Henley, and Richard Raybould, 2nd , 3rd and 4 th respectively.
A new class record for Ian Carvell in the Scirocco in 3B took the win, from Dan Whitman’s Nova.
3C had a win for Michael Jackson in the Porsche 911, with Andrew Ward in the MX5 Turbo 2nd , and the Supercharged MX5 of Stuart Hadley 3rd .
In the Libre class John Bradburn won from co driver Colin Quigley in the shared Radical.
A great 4 car 7b racing car class went to the Empire of Mike White, who also took FTD, with Simon Wallis’s OMS second, and the Jedi of Jan Snape third.
With the entry at this event being full, and some competitors not getting an entry, it shows the other reason to get entries in earlier if you are vying for a Class or Overall Award in the Championship. Entries are still available for the BMMC and SDCC rounds but they are filling up so get those entries in!.
Some competitors will now start dropping lowest scores at the next round, so overall and class positions will start to change around!
