A fantastic result for our team at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards. 👏

We are pleased to share that we were named runner-up in the North West Innovation category at last night’s ceremony, recognizing our £5.1m ZETTA project. 🏆

Developed in collaboration with Expert Technologies Group, HSSMI, and the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, the ZETTA project introduced advanced automation, high-voltage testing, and digital manufacturing technologies into our existing production operation to build award-winning DAF battery electric trucks on the same production line as our diesel trucks.

This achievement is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in bringing ZETTA to life. Thank you for your commitment to excellence, and congratulations to all the winners and shortlisted businesses.

🚛 A new addition to the Leyland Test Team fleet!
Leyland has recently introduced a bespoke XB support vehicle, designed and built by the in-house PACCAR Body team to support climate testing programmes across Europe and beyond.

The vehicle already been put into action in Southern Spain and is equipped with specialist tools, spare parts and a purpose-built mobile workshop, enabling the team to operate in some of the most challenging environments, from extreme heat to Arctic conditions.

A special mention also goes to third year apprentices Mia Hickson and Joshua Finch, who designed the vehicle's distinctive livery. Inspired by the UK30 series, the design features a unique "big brother, little brother" connection with the XG. The XB carries the lower half of the Union Jack, while the XG vehicle features the upper half.

A fantastic example of innovation, teamwork and apprentice talent from across Leyland. 👏

🎉 What a fantastic first week for our 25 new apprentices! 🎉

Over the past few days, our newest team members have been getting stuck into life at Leyland with a packed programme of inductions, site tours, health and safety training and college inductions.

They've also had the opportunity to enjoy lunch with our Senior Management Team, giving them insight into the business and the people who help drive it forward.

To round off the week, they headed to the bowling alley and took part in a buddy event, giving them the chance to meet colleagues from across the business who will be friendly faces and offer support as they begin their apprenticeship journey.

We're excited to watch each of them learn, grow and develop over the coming years. Welcome to the team, and here's to a successful start! 👏

A visit with a difference! We really enjoyed hosting Stark UK and hearing the operators' thoughts and opinions. Always a pleasure to meet passionate drivers

Recently, 15 drivers from Stark Building Materials UK visited Leyland Trucks, the UK home of DAF truck manufacturing, to take part in a 'Vehicle of the Future' workshop focused on the needs of operators in the building materials sector. 👷🏗️

From cab ergonomics and vehicle controls to drop-side body and crane design, the session gave drivers the opportunity to share first-hand feedback from their day-to-day experiences.

Listening to drivers has always been an important part of how we develop our vehicles. Thank you to everyone from STARK UK who shared their expertise and valuable feedback on the day. 🙏

🎉 Congratulations to Alex-Kaye Harwood, our 2026 Syd Zinga Apprentice of the Year!

Presented annually in memory of our colleague Syd Zinga, the award recognises apprentices who have made an exceptional contribution throughout the year.

Alex, a 4th year Design Engineer apprentice, was recognised for her "outstanding engineering contribution through innovative design solutions, specialist CFD expertise and leadership of key testing activities."

With a record number of nominations received from across the whole business this year, the standard was incredibly high. As a result, we were also proud to introduce a Highly Commended Award, presented to Louie Skerrit for excelling in complex electrical and maintenance projects while achieving outstanding academic results. Louie is a 3rd year apprentice within the Facilities & Maintenance team.

Congratulations to Alex, Louie and all of this year's nominees on their fantastic achievements. 👏
