Kawasaki ZRX1200R carburettor recommission! 🔧
Getting these carbs out was half the battle! 😅
Years of grime removed, ultrasonic clean, fresh gaskets, O-rings and replacement diaphragms throughout.
The before and after carb balance says it all. What a difference — now sounding exactly how it should! 👌

2006 Kawasaki ZRX1200R
Inspired by the iconic Eddie Lawson replica superbikes of the 1980s, the ZRX1200R is a proper old-school Kawasaki muscle bike.
This lovely example came into the workshop for some carburettor work and general recommissioning. A cracking example of a modern classic, and certainly not short on character!

Fresh from a test ride and just making those final tweaks to the carbs before she's ready to head home.
A little rev and walkaround to finish things off. What a fantastic machine these are, and that big 1200cc four-cylinder sounds absolutely brilliant!

Another absolute gem finished up at RTR Motorcycles! 💚

The 2006 Kawasaki ZRX1200R, looking fantastic in that unmistakable Kawasaki Lime Green.

Plenty of work has gone into getting this one back into shape, and I'm really pleased with the end result.

I'll be sharing some of the work involved and what went into getting it to this point over the coming days.

For now, I'll let the photos do the talking!

A quick walk around and a little rev of the Yamaha XS1100 while I've pulled over to do some final dialling in.
With nearly 80,000 miles on the clock, the old girl doesn't sound too bad at all!

These engines certainly have a unique sound to them. The best way I can describe it is an angry tractor! 😂

A bit of a diamond in the rough 💎

This Yamaha XS1100 came to me as an unfinished eBay project, arriving at the workshop in boxes of bits.

With almost 80,000 miles on the clock, the goal wasn’t to build a show bike — it was to get the project over the finish line and turn it back into a good, usable classic.

After many years off the road, it’s now back together, running properly and ready to be enjoyed again. The owner can tackle the cosmetics over winter at his leisure.

Unfortunately, a much-needed phone purge meant I accidentally deleted a lot of the recommission footage 🤦‍♂️ Bound to happen eventually!

Never thought in a million years I’d be sat here reading a feature about RTR Motorcycles in Classic Bike Magazine.

Honestly, a massive moment for me and something I’m really proud of.

All from a shed at the back of the house, a lot of hard work and just trying to do things properly and take pride in every bike that comes through the door.

Still plenty to learn, but moments like this make all the hard work worth it.
