Ford Ranger in for major surgery 🔧🚗

Customer came in with suspected head gasket failure — stripped down and now awaiting the engineers’ verdict tomorrow to confirm whether it’s just the gasket or if the cylinder head itself has suffered damage.

As you can see, this one’s had a proper tear down to get to the root of the issue. No guesswork, just honest diagnostics and getting the job done right.

This lovely big Mercedes X250d in with us for some serious work 🔧

Full job included:
• Head gasket
• EGR cooler
• Thermostat
• Radiator

Safe to say this was one heck of a job — 22 hours labour just on the head gasket alone 😅

To make things worse, the system had been filled with 2 bottles of K-Seal…
For anyone that doesn’t know, K-Seal is a cooling system sealant designed to temporarily seal leaks — but it works by circulating through the system and blocking up small holes. The problem is, it doesn’t just stop at the leak… it can clog up small coolant passages, heater matrix, EGR cooler, and even parts of the radiator, causing bigger issues down the line 🚫

Everything now cleaned out properly and replaced where needed — job done right ✅

If you’ve got a coolant leak, it’s always better to fix it properly rather than relying on quick fixes

Another little Abarth 500 in with us for a head gasket repair 🔧

Unfortunately this one had blown a hole straight through the head gasket, which has caused a fair bit of damage to the cylinder head.

The engine block has been cleaned up and is ready for the new gasket 👍

New cylinder head is ordered and should be here tomorrow, along with a full head gasket kit, timing belt, and water pump.

Hopefully we’ll have this little rocket 🚗💨 back on the road tomorrow 😎🔧

🚗 Another Common Engine Fault In The Workshop 🔧

We’ve had this Peugeot 1.2 PureTech in with the dreaded oil pressure warning light on.

This engine uses a wet belt system (similar to the EcoBoost), and unfortunately it’s a well-known issue. Over time, the belt begins to break down inside the engine, sending debris into the oil system…

⚠️ This can:
• Block the oil pickup
• Cause low oil pressure
• Lead to serious engine damage if ignored

💡 If you’ve got one of these engines and notice:
– Oil pressure warnings
– Engine noise
– Poor running

Don’t ignore it — get it checked ASAP.

Big shoutout to our new apprentice 👏

Young lad, eager to learn and absolutely smashing it already.

This week alone he’s on his 3rd timing belt 🔧

Not long ago he was starting out doing tyres and brakes, and now he’s stepped up to timing belts with confidence and skill.

That’s what hard work, the right attitude and willingness to learn gets you.
