Injectors definitely shouldn't look like this!

The four I'm holding have completely lost their nozzle tips, which can cause serious overfuelling and potentially hydrolock an engine. In the other photo, one of the injectors has swollen around the nozzle and looks like it could be next to fail.

If your diesel has started making a chuffing noise, get it checked. It could be a leaking injector seal, which might not seem like a big deal, but leave it long enough and you could end up with an injector seized solid in the cylinder head.

We appreciate nobody wants an unexpected garage bill, but putting off a repair to save a few quid now can end up costing you a lot more further down the line.

October is looking busy already! 🔧
We haven't got much availability left this week or next, so if you've got something you've been meaning to get looked at, give us a shout sooner rather than later.
Engine management light on? Funny noise? Service due? Or maybe you just want the car given a once over before the winter weather gets here.
Every vehicle we have in gets a health check while it's with us. You'll get a printout showing what we've found, marked green, amber or red. So you'll know what's all good, what isn't perfect but can wait, and what really needs doing now.
It's a good way of getting an overall picture of the car rather than finding things out one at a time when they become a problem.

🔧 Extra pair of hands at Force Tuning today! 🔧

Arabella’s popped in to lend a hand in the office today and has wasted no time making herself comfortable in the manager’s chair. 😂

So far she’s shuffled some paperwork, pressed a few buttons and kept a very close eye on the snack situation.

We’re starting her young. A few more years of training and she’ll be answering the phones, booking jobs in and telling customers that, no, the warning light probably won’t fix itself. 🤣

We might be called Force Tuning, but remapping is only a small part of what goes on in our workshop.

On any given week you'll find us carrying out everything from routine servicing and brakes to clutches, cambelts, suspension, diagnostics, DPF issues, electrical faults and those awkward problems that have already had everyone scratching their heads. 🔧

And yes... we still like making things faster too. 😁

Busy week in the workshop... and it's only Tuesday! 🔧🚗
So far this week we've carried out engine swaps, injector replacements, AdBlue system repairs, diagnostics, along with all the day to day servicing, brakes and maintenance that keep our customers safely on the road.
It's a great example of the variety of work that comes through our doors. Whether it's routine servicing or a major mechanical repair, every job gets the same attention to detail and commitment to doing it properly.

⚠️ Timing belts don't always give you a second chance...

This vehicle came in today for a routine timing belt replacement, and it genuinely couldn't have been much closer.

📸 Photo 1: One of the timing belt teeth has started to tear away and is on the verge of breaking off completely. If that tooth lets go, the belt can jump timing instantly, often resulting in severe engine damage.

📸 Photo 2: The tensioner wasn't doing much better. The mounting bolt has bent, allowing the retaining nut to gradually work loose. By the time we stripped it down, there was less than a single turn of thread holding the nut on. Had it come off, the timing belt would have lost tension with potentially catastrophic consequences.

This is exactly why manufacturers specify replacement intervals. Timing belts rarely give much warning before they fail, and waiting until there's a problem can turn a relatively straightforward maintenance job into a multi-thousand-pound engine rebuild.

If you're unsure when your timing belt is due, get in touch. We'd much rather replace a belt than an engine. 🔧🚗

🚗 Suzuki Vitara | Diesel Fume Smell Investigation

This Suzuki Vitara came to us with a reported diesel fume smell and what appeared to be an oil leak.

On inspection, we found the engine was suffering from prolonged injector blow-by, allowing combustion gases to escape past the injector seals and create heavy carbon deposits around the injectors.

Left untreated, injector blow-by only gets worse and can eventually lead to damaged injector seats, difficult injector removal and significantly more expensive repairs.

🔧 The repair involved:

✅ Removing all four injectors.
✅ Cleaning and preparing the injector seats.
✅ The injectors were removed and sent away for specialist testing. Based on the results, a complete new set of injectors was recommended and authorised by the customer.
✅ Installing the replacement injectors with new seals.
✅ Thoroughly removing the heavy carbon build-up before reassembly.

A good reminder that unusual smells shouldn't be ignored. A proper diagnosis can often identify the root cause before a relatively straightforward repair turns into a much bigger and more expensive job.
