Another successful fuel drain completed in Knutsford! 💪

This customer had accidentally put around 10 litres of AdBlue into the diesel tank of their Range Rover Sport. Unfortunately, the vehicle was then started and driven but it didn’t get far before breaking down.

After finding Fuel Flush online, the customer gave us a call and we headed out to get them sorted. 🚐💨

This Range Rover Sport has a saddle style fuel tank. Unlike a simple single chamber tank, a saddle tank is shaped to sit around components underneath the vehicle and effectively has fuel stored on both sides. This means a proper drain needs to make sure the whole tank and fuel system are cleared, rather than simply removing fuel from one accessible point.

Fuel Flush attended this ambulance in Preston after a full tank of petrol was mistakenly added instead of diesel.

Thankfully, the vehicle hadn’t been started. It was recovered back to the service department, where the Service Manager gave us a call and booked us in for a full fuel drain.

It happens more often than you think and what you do next can make a big difference.

If you’ve accidentally put petrol in your diesel car or diesel in your petrol car:

❌ DON’T start the engine
❌ DON’T turn the ignition on unnecessarily
❌ DON’T try to “top it up” with the correct fuel and hope for the best

✅ Leave the vehicle switched off
✅ If you’re still at the petrol station, let staff know
✅ Move the vehicle to a safe place without starting it, where possible
✅ Call Fuel Flush

Another hybrid wrong fuel job, this time a Kia Niro petrol hybrid that had accidentally been filled with diesel.

Luckily, the customer realised the mistake before starting the car and the vehicle was safely pushed away from the pumps ready for us to carry out the fuel drain. 👍

A job from last week involving an MG MG3 Hybrid after the customer accidentally filled the petrol tank with diesel.

The customer had driven a few miles from the filling station before realising the mistake. Luckily, because it was a hybrid and the journey was so short, the petrol engine hadn’t fired up and the car had travelled on battery power. 🔋

That potentially prevented the diesel from being circulated through the running engine.

You might think putting diesel into a petrol car is impossible because the diesel nozzle is normally larger but we attend petrol cars filled with diesel more often than you might expect!

📞 The customer called Fuel Flush and we were there within the hour.

✅ Contaminated fuel drained
✅ Fuel tank flushed of the remaining diesel
✅ Fuel system drained and flushed
✅ Fresh petrol added
✅ Vehicle started and checked

The customer then took the MG for a quick test drive around the block and was back on the road with the car running as it should. 🚗💨

⚡ Wrong fuel in a petrol hybrid?
If you realise before the engine starts, don’t deliberately start it. Remember, with a hybrid the petrol engine can start automatically depending on the vehicle and driving conditions.
