Young driver safety was the focus of an important roundtable in the House of Commons yesterday, bringing together motor insurers to discuss how we can reduce the disproportionate number of crashes caused by young drivers.
Insurers are on the frontline of young driver risk every day, so it was invaluable to see them at the heart of the discussion. They understand behaviour, claims trends, pricing pressures and the realities facing new drivers.
Their insight, data and influence will be vital as we work towards the Governmentโs target of a ๐ฒ๐ฑ% ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐ธ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ผ๐๐๐น๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ท๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฑ.

Insurance costs are high because crash risk is high among this vulnerable group - a reality that underlines the need for meaningful, long-term solutions to safeguard young drivers.
The event reinforced that there is no single answer. Progress will require collaboration, innovation and a willingness to do things differently.
Thank you again to Andy MacNae MP for making the event happen and to everybody who attended.
